Turning Point USA confirmed it will bring back its alternative All-American Halftime Show in 2027 following this year’s Super Bowl counterprogramming effort.
The organization launched the event during the 2026 Super Bowl as a response to the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny as halftime headliner. Some conservative commentators, including President Donald Trump, criticized the NFL’s choice, prompting TPUSA to create a separate digital broadcast aimed at viewers seeking a different style of programming.
Turning Point spokesperson Andrew Kolvet announced the 2027 return during an appearance on Fox News with Brian Kilmeade, saying the group would “run it back again next year” following what he described as strong digital turnout.
The 2026 alternative show was headlined by Kid Rock and included performances from Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. Each artist performed a short set before Kid Rock closed the event with a slower rendition of Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t”. The broadcast ended with a video tribute honoring Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed in September 2025 during a debate event at a Utah college.
Unlike the NFL halftime show, which is staged live inside the Super Bowl stadium with large-scale production, TPUSA’s event was pre-taped on a smaller soundstage in the Atlanta area and streamed online. The format resembled a concert special rather than a live-in-game spectacle.
Viewership numbers have varied depending on the source. According to reporting from outlets including USA Today and The Athletic, the alternative broadcast peaked at between 5 and 6 million concurrent live viewers on YouTube during the Super Bowl window. Post-event totals reported by Billboard and Newsweek placed YouTube views in the range of roughly 19 to 21 million in the days following the game.
Turning Point USA has claimed higher cumulative totals exceeding 25 million views across YouTube and Rumble combined, including watch parties. Those broader figures have not been independently verified.
By comparison, official Super Bowl halftime shows routinely exceed 100 million television viewers worldwide, with additional digital streaming audiences. While final consolidated numbers for Bad Bunny’s performance are still being analyzed, the NFL broadcast traditionally dwarfs any alternative programming airing simultaneously.
The alternative show also encountered technical and licensing complications. A planned stream on X was pulled at the last minute due to licensing restrictions, limiting distribution options on that platform.
Reaction to the event was mixed. Supporters framed it as patriotic counterprogramming focused on country and rock artists, while critics characterized it as niche and insular. Media commentary from outlets such as Esquire questioned its broader cultural reach compared to the NFL’s global production.
Still, TPUSA appears committed to expanding the concept. Kolvet said the organization views the 2026 numbers as validation of audience interest, even at a smaller scale relative to the official halftime broadcast.
The 2027 version has not yet announced performers, format changes, or distribution plans. Whether the organization aims to expand partnerships, secure additional platforms, or adjust production values remains unclear.
What is certain is that Turning Point USA intends to continue offering an alternative during Super Bowl halftime.
The NFL will stage its show inside the stadium.
TPUSA will stream theirs online.
And in 2027, viewers will again have a choice.
