Reba McEntire doesn’t cry easily, but on Monday night on The Voice, one country hopeful brought the country icon to tears.

It was the September 22 blind auditions when Georgia native Manny Costello walked out and sang Craig Morgan’s “Almost Home.” The moment his voice filled the room, Reba‘s eyes welled up. By the time he finished, she had tissues in hand and a lump in her throat. “Manny, you made me homesick,” she told him, her voice breaking. “It took me back to all the greats that I’ve been so fortunate to get to listen to in my life. You’ve gotten qualities from George Jones and Merle Haggard, and there’s a little Randy Travis in there. It’s just a great combination. Gosh dang, why am I getting so emotional? It’s tears of joy.”

This wasn’t stage drama. This was Reba hit straight in the heart by a voice that carried the kind of grit and smoothness you can’t fake. Viewers online backed it up, saying his sound was “like country butter, smooth as silk, rich, and soothing.” Another fan put it plain and said, “Reba described his voice so well, he’s a mixture of so many 70s and 80s country legends.”

And then, of course, there was Snoop Dogg. Sitting in his red chair with shades on, just soaking up the music. Reba, fighting back tears, called him “Snoopy,” and he slid her some tissues with a grin. The crossover of Snoop chilling in shades while Reba cries over a Craig Morgan song had fans laughing just as hard as they were crying. One viewer joked, “Snoop out here blasted with his glasses on, having the best life ever.”

But Manny’s performance wasn’t just technically strong, it was personal. Before taking the stage, he said, “This song is about a man who doesn’t have much, if anything at all. I look at my life, and I look at where I’m at right now, and the people that I get to say love me, I feel very blessed and fortunate.”

That honesty carried into his audition. His tone was warm, his vibrato steady, and his delivery pure. As one fan online put it, “His tone, his vibrato, his classic sound, wow!”

The judges weren’t the only ones in awe. Manny’s daughters, Maggie and Leighton, are big fans of Reba, the sitcom. That sealed the deal. Though both Reba and Snoop turned their chairs, Manny went straight for Team Reba. “I love hanging out with my daughters. We bond, we cuddle a lot, we watch the Reba show all the time,” he said. “My daughters love music. They love when I sing. I want to show them that you can put anything you put your mind to if you believe in yourself.”

For Reba, the moment wasn’t just about picking up a team member. It was about connection. “I feel very blessed to be in the country music business all these years,” she said. “You just triggered something that needed to come out and say, ‘Happy to be here.’ I’d love you on my team.”

It takes a lot to shake up Reba McEntire, a woman who has stood tall through decades of stages, heartbreak songs, and honky-tonk glory. But one audition from a Georgia boy with a voice carved out of classic country tradition sent her straight back to her roots.

That is the magic of The Voice when it is at its best. One song, one singer, and one shot. Suddenly, a superstar like Reba is sitting in a Hollywood studio feeling like she’s back home in Oklahoma.
