Fans are in for a treat with Reba’s “I’m a Survivor Remix,” which musicians called a “historically unprecedented” version.

Mya Byrne, an award-winning performing songwriter and a proud trans woman, played mandolin and lap steel on the song remixed by LeahAnn Mitchell, a Grammy-nominated producer who is known under the moniker of Lafemmebear, who also came out as a transgender woman.

Byrne talked about the brand-new remix, which has lately turned into a trend on TikTok. “It is historically unprecedented for two transgender women to play such an outstanding production role in a country music single,” she said.

Byrne and Lafemmebear were frequent collaborators and teamed up once again for the project at the suggestion of Hunter Kelly, the host of Proud Radio at Apple Music Country. In addition, Byrne also admits that she was beyond amazed to have the opportunity to work with Reba McEntire. “She’s a great representation of strong, independent women,” Byrne said about the country music legend.

For Lafemmebear, the project was also a great chance to reconnect to her childhood days, adding that the lyrics in part resonated with her and her relationship with her mother.

“I’m a Survivor Remix” will be part of McEntire’s massive recording project that totally reimagines her Country Music Hall of Fame catalog. Titled REVIVED REMIXED REVISITED, it will feature three separate discs, each with a different theme, putting a spin on the most iconic Reba McEntire songs. REVIVED REMIXED REVISITED will arrive on October 8!

Moreover, the country icon will return to the road this winter for “REBA, BROOKS & DUNN: Together in Vegas,” which is a celebration of the friendship and the pinnacle of musical appreciation the trio has shared since first touring together three decades ago.

Anyway, tune in and listen to Reba’s “I’m a Survivor Remix” in the video below.
