Country music singer-songwriters Maren Morris and husband Ryan Hurd’s love story may be your typical friends to lovers, but it still has its own charms. The two shared the same passion for music, and after-work beers and writing chemistry drew them even closer. And after so many song collaborations, the duo finally said yes to forever. And now they are a family of three with their baby boy Hayes Andrew.

Let’s take a step back and see how their musical love story unfolded.

First Chapter: It All Started With A Song

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s love story started with a song, and it was just so fitting as they were both musicians. And it was like they were writing the first song off their life album.

Maren first met fellow country singer Ryan Hurd back in 2013 during a co-writing session for Tim McGraw’s “Last Turn Home.” In an interview with Us Weekly, Maren described Ryan as a creative collaborator. The first time they met, she said that they didn’t really know each other, but a friendship blossomed between them as they shared their love for music. According to Ryan, they would write then go over to a bar in midtown and share a couple of beers. And that was when they started to make a real connection that was beyond a creative partnership.

And after that, it didn’t take too long for them to actually acknowledge the chemistry, the undeniable timing, and the foundation they had built over the years writing songs together.

They started dating in December 2015. And sparks were definitely flying when they collaborated for Ryan Hurd’s 2016 song “Love in a Bar.” The song poetically narrated the story of how he fell in love with her. It was definitely an autobiographical song about his relationship with Maren with vivid imagery of cigarettes and Corona. Maren also featured in the official music video of the song, where fans saw a glimpse of their sweet and intimate chemistry.

And on July 3, 2017, the couple got engaged at Hurd’s lake house, and Maren announced it on Instagram in the most creative way. She posted a series of photos displaying her unique uncut diamond with one specific photo where she was holding a Corona Light while her hand rested on Hurd’s leg – a reference to the singer’s song “Love in a Bar.”

Who is Maren Morris’ husband, Ryan Hurd?

Ryan James Hurd or more popularly known as Ryan Hurd, was born on November 2, 1986 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There were hardly any details about his family and his early life except that he attended a local high school and completed a degree in Sociology from Belmont University.

Then Ryan moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a songwriting career. He used to write songs for other artists (which he absolutely loved as well) like Darius Rucker, The Cadillac Three, Randy Houser, and the Rascal Flatts. Then as he expanded his horizons, he got to work with Tim McGraw in 2013 for the song “Last Turn Home,” which was his first collaboration with his now wife, Maren Morris.

After that, in 2015, he wrote the chart topping and Grammy-nominated hit “Lonely Tonight,” recorded and performed by Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe. These two songs definitely helped cement his name in the industry and became milestones in his career.

In 2017, he signed with Sony Music Nashville and finally released his debut album “We Do Us.” The first single off the album received over 2 million streams on Spotify and was followed by “Love in a Bar,” which became one of his hits, and the platinum hit “To a T.” Hurd was also featured as one of the artists you need to know by Rolling Stone.

As of now, his estimated net worth is at $1.5 million.

Second Chapter: Marriage and Building a Family

The couple exchanged their vows in the city where they first met, Cordelle in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 24, 2018. Maren wore a homage to her mother’s vintage dress custom-made by Cavanagh Baker of Nashville. The dress was short in the front, and the back was long with a couture-embroidered lace sourced from Spain and crystal straps handmade in India. It was so delicate and detailed that it took over a month to design and execute.

The two vacationed for their babymoon in January 2019 and announced that they were expecting it in October of the same year. The news came in after a year living in one of Maren Morris songs “Girl,” and she shared the irony of the song and having a baby boy to even things out.

And then on March 23, 2020 (just a day before their wedding anniversary), the two welcomed their first child together named Hayes Andrew.

Third Chapter: Living Their Life with Music

Last Valentine’s, the couple released their first-ever duet titled “Chasing After You,” which was a sweet love song about fighting for someone who already left and longing for that person to return.

Maren Morris and husband Ryan Hurd have been collaborating since 2013, but this was their first official collaboration where they also performed the song. The song is a follow-up to Ryan Hurd’s EOM EP released in 2020. In the press release, Ryan recalled how they met writing songs and singing on each other’s records, yet this was the first time they did an actual duet together. For him, the timing was really perfect, and it was a full-circle moment to make music together.
