The song was written by Jonathan Singleton, Jim Beavers, and Darrell Brown and was released in August 2009. “Why Don’t We Just Dance” was Turner’s third #1 hit that stayed at the charts for four weeks. The single was certified gold in 2010 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Song’s Meaning

Life is full of moments where you want to slump on the couch and take a quick break from everything happening. It’s tough, and many challenges come as we go on, but it wouldn’t hurt to pause and enjoy even for a short while. Josh Turner’s “Why Don’t We Just Dance” perfectly describes that feeling. In the music video, the couple is first seen sitting on the couch, but when the song starts, they stand to move the sofa and begin to dance to the beat. They appear in different outfits, seemingly dancing through the decades and around the house.
