Jelly Roll Calls Sex Before Weight Loss “Horrible” and Says He’ll Never Forget the Feeling

Jelly Roll is not just dropping pounds, he is dropping truth bombs while doing it.

Jelly Roll isn’t afraid to lay it all out. On stage, in song, and now, on a podcast. And his latest confessional might be his rawest yet. The country rocker just opened up on The Joe Rogan Experience, and let’s just say, he didn’t hold back. From struggling to get aroused to finding redemption through 200 pounds of weight loss, Jelly’s story is a straight-up country song come to life, and it’s got everyone talking.

The man born Jason DeFord, who once carried the weight of addiction, bad habits, and a body that held him hostage, got real about how it all came to a head when he realized even intimacy with his wife, Bunnie Xo, had become a chore. And not just any chore. We’re talking awkward, uncomfortable, “Twister”-level logistics that killed the vibe before it even started.

“My sex life was horrible,” Jelly told Rogan bluntly. “I couldn’t even get aroused, I was so big.” He was not shy about the reality of it, explaining how his size made it nearly impossible to enjoy something that should come easy with a woman he still clearly adores. “Dude, I married a big-busted, blonde, beautiful woman. I married the kind of woman that makes you smile when you’re crying.”

Yet there he was, out of breath and out of sync in the bedroom, trying to figure out angles and movements like it was a circus act instead of a moment of connection. That was when he knew something had to give. It was not just about weight. It was about life, love, and being the man his family deserved.

Jelly Roll’s 200-pound transformation started with one step, literally. After years of empty promises, he finally laced up his shoes, walked out the door, and did what he said he’d do. When he came home from that first walk, he found his family at the driveway, clapping and cheering like he had just crossed a finish line.

“They had every reason not to go out there and cheer me on,” he said. “That was the moment I realized they still believed in me, even when I didn’t.”

And now, years later, the man who once said he was too big to play catch with his son is running on his birthday and showing fans everywhere what real change looks like. No longer shackled by shame, Jelly is embracing a new chapter, one built on hard work, accountability, and love that goes deeper than physical attraction.

But even with his newfound energy and confidence, Jelly knows the weight of the journey he has walked, both literally and figuratively. He admitted that life on the road still gets to him. While performing in Australia, he confessed how the long hours alone in a hotel room messed with his head and made him homesick. Touring overseas with no tour bus left him feeling disconnected and anxious. It all boiled over in New Zealand when illness forced him to cancel a show he had been looking forward to for years.

Through it all, though, Jelly keeps showing up for his fans, his family, and himself. He’s not just the tattooed underdog who made it out of prison and into the Grand Ole Opry. He’s the man who looked in the mirror, saw the truth, and did something about it.

And now? He feels better than ever, in body and in spirit. “Dude, I feel great, Joe. I feel really, really good,” he said with a grin.

So yeah, Jelly Roll went from barely moving in the bedroom to running full speed into a new life. And if that ain’t the most country redemption arc you’ve ever heard, then nothing is.
