Jason Aldean and Wife Brittany Call Out Cracker Barrel Saying the Chain Has Been “Actin a Fool”

Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean never miss a chance to stir the pot, and this time their sights were set on Cracker Barrel.

The couple, known for saying exactly what’s on their minds regardless of backlash, took aim at the iconic southern restaurant chain after its recent attempt at a brand overhaul went over like a lead balloon. Cracker Barrel unveiled a stripped-down new logo and reworked interiors, and fans who grew up with rocking chairs on the porch and “Uncle Herschel” on the signs immediately cried foul. Boycotts started brewing, social media lit up, and now the Aldeans have thrown gasoline on the fire.

The pair posted a breakfast selfie on Instagram, with coffee mugs in hand, and Brittany made sure the caption carried some sting. “Breakfast date this morning. We would be at @crackerbarrel but yall been actin a fool,” she wrote, putting the chain on blast in front of their millions of followers.

Fans cheered on the dig. “Breakfast date with a jab!” one wrote. Another added, “Get ’em Britt!” Others jumped straight into the boycott pile with comments like, “Love it! We won’t be back either.”

The Aldeans’ swipe landed right in the middle of the Cracker Barrel storm. The backlash had already cost the company nearly $100 million in market value, and it forced executives to backtrack by announcing that “Old Timer” Uncle Herschel would remain after all. However, the damage was already done. Customers felt betrayed, and critics called the redesign “soulless” and “sterile.”

For Jason and Brittany, taking a jab at a brand trying to “modernize” its southern charm fits right into their wheelhouse. They have built a reputation for speaking out on hot-button issues, whether it was Brittany’s Instagram comments about gender identity that sparked a feud with Maren Morris or Jason’s controversial hit “Try That in a Small Town,” which drew accusations of racism and incitement. When Billboard left Jason off its 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time list, Brittany fired back about “wokeness.” Like them or not, the Aldeans are not wired to play it safe.

That outspokenness has made them lightning rods, but it has also earned them a fiercely loyal fanbase who see them as unapologetically authentic. Calling out Cracker Barrel for abandoning its old-school identity only reinforced that image. The Aldeans are saying what plenty of folks are thinking: if you built your brand on nostalgia, rocking chairs, and biscuits drowning in gravy, why would you rip out the very soul that made you famous?

Of course, the Aldeans do not spend all their time firing shots online. They have a blended family that stays front and center in their lives. Jason has daughters Keeley and Kendyl from his first marriage, and he and Brittany are raising son Memphis and daughter Navy together. Over the weekend, Brittany threw Kendyl’s 18th birthday party, proving that in between making headlines, family is still their anchor.

But when Monday morning rolled around and it was time for a breakfast date, the Aldeans had no problem turning their coffee cups into a protest. In a single post, they managed to blend family life with a cultural jab, reminding the world that country stars do not just sing about tradition, because they will also call out anyone who tramples it.

Cracker Barrel may eventually recover from its branding misstep, but for now, Jason and Brittany Aldean made sure the chain knows that not all country folks are buying the new image. As far as they are concerned, Cracker Barrel has been “actin a fool,” and they are not afraid to say it loud.
