Jamie Lynn Spears is back and is ready for her next project. The actress-slash-country singer goes back to her acting roots with a new role in an upcoming Netflix show entitled Sweet Magnolias, a book series by Sheryl Woods.

She posted the announcement on her official Instagram page, sharing her excitement about the new project.

Sweet Magnolias will consist of 10 episodes for the first season of the show. The story is set in the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina. It focuses on three childhood best friends, namely Maddie Townsend,  Dana Sue Sullivan, and Helen Decatur. Their lives are constantly filled with trials and tribulations, of love, family, and how each would strive for their dreams as they navigate adulthood together.

The series stars Monica Potter, known for her work in Parenthood, Brooke Elliott of Drop Dead Diva fame and Heather Headley, a Tony Award-winning theatre actress and singer, in the leading roles.

According to a feature in Deadline, Spears is slated to play a character named Noreen Fitzgibbons, who is a young woman who is looking to improve her life by becoming a nurse in Serenity after a series of poor and difficult life decisions.

Spears isn’t a stranger to the small screen. She is best known for her the titular role of Zoey in Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, as well as being a cast member in Nickelodeon’s All That.

The show also features Chris Klein of The Flash and Justin Burning of Good Behavior. Woods will serve as the executive producer alongside Sheryl J. Anderson and Dan Paulson. A release date has yet to be announced.
