Dolly Parton just reminded the world that you cannot keep a good woman down, and she did it with humor, sparkle, and that unmistakable Tennessee twang.
After a wave of rumors about her health started swirling online, Dolly decided to set the record straight in the most Dolly way possible. On Wednesday, the country icon posted a video from the set of a Grand Ole Opry commercial shoot, dressed in full glam, wearing a red and black fringe top and flashing her signature smile. “I know lately everybody thinks I am sicker than I am,” she said, looking straight into the camera with a mix of sass and sincerity. “Do I look sick to you?”
Fans had been worried after her sister, Freida Parton, took to Facebook earlier in the week, asking for prayers, which quickly caused concern among fans. Freida later explained that she had not meant to alarm anyone, saying her sister was just a little under the weather. But by then, the rumors had already taken off. So Dolly, being Dolly, stepped up to calm everyone herself.
“I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease,” she told fans in the video. “Those of you who seem real concerned, which I appreciate, I just want you to know that I am okay.” She went on to explain that she has been dealing with a few minor health issues and needed to take care of herself after years of putting her well-being second. “Back when my husband Carl was very sick, I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of,” she said. “When I finally got around to it, the doctor said we need to take care of this and that. Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could stay close to home.”
Dolly’s longtime husband, Carl Dean, passed away in March after nearly sixty years of marriage. While she admitted that losing him had been painful, she made it clear she is far from giving up. “I figured if you heard it from me, you would know that I was okay,” she said with a grin. “I am not ready to die yet. I do not think God is through with me, and I am not done working.”
In classic Dolly fashion, she ended her message with a laugh, captioning the video, “I ain’t dead yet.” Within hours, fans flooded the comments with messages of love and relief, calling her a national treasure and thanking her for always being honest. “You scared us for a minute, Dolly,” one fan wrote. “Now go rest up so you can outlive us all.”
The video followed her earlier announcement that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on her doctors’ advice. She had joked that it must be time for her 100,000-mile checkup and reassured fans that it was nothing serious. The six shows, originally set for December, have been rescheduled for September 2026.

Even at seventy-nine, Dolly continues to juggle more projects than most artists half her age. She remains busy with her music, her charity work, and her business ventures while still finding time to film new projects and write songs. Her humor, faith, and determination have carried her through every high and low of her life.
Dolly’s quick and candid response to the rumors proved that the Queen of Country is still as strong as ever. She may be slowing down to focus on her health, but the sparkle in her eyes says she is nowhere near finished. “Keep praying for me,” she told fans. “I can always use that, but I promise y’all, I am doing just fine.”
In that moment, Dolly reminded everyone why she remains one of the most loved figures in music. She never hides from the truth, she faces it with grace, and she always does it while looking fabulous. The woman who built an empire on heart, humor, and hard work is still standing tall, ready for more laughter, more music, and a whole lot more Dolly magic.
