On Friday, February 17th, 2023, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call from Kellie Pickler’s assistant at 1:21 pm local time. Upon arriving at the $2.4 million home that Pickler shared with her husband of 12 years, Kyle Jacobs, police found Jacobs in an upstairs room with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
Kyle Jacobs was a songwriter and producer who had collaborated with country music artists such as Lee Brice, Eli Young Band, and Raleigh Keegan. Just one day before his death, he posted an Instagram message celebrating the success of Lee Brice’s song “One of Them Girls,” which he co-wrote and had recently gone platinum.
Kellie Pickler rose to fame after appearing on American Idol in 2006 and has since become a successful country music artist. She and Jacobs starred in their own CMT documentary series, “I Love Kellie Pickler,” which ran from 2015 to 2017.
