In 2015, Dancing With the Stars continued, dancing our worries away with truly memorable performances from the 12 couples who competed as part of the ABC reality competition’s 10th-anniversary edition. Not only was the season one of the fiercest, but it’s the most anticipated for many reasons.

The main one is that it became a venue to honor the brave men and women who fight for our freedom with great vigor. One of the star-studded celebrity casts was no other than U.S. Army veteran Noah Galloway.

He Brought His Encouraging Story Of Conquering All The Odds To The Ballroom

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Noah Galloway went through a life-changing injury in 2005. Just three months into his second tour of duty at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for Operation Iraqi Freedom, Galloway became a victim of an Improvised Explosive Device attack. After five days of being unconscious, he woke up late in the evening on Christmas Eve only to find out that he had lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee.

And he shared that tragic accident that forced him to leave the Army during the show’s “Most Memorable Year” week, which allows the celebrities to highlight the year that changed their life most.

Teaming up with professional dancer Sharna Burgess, the duo performed a heartwarming contemporary dance to Toby Keith‘s “American Soldier,” bringing the entire audience to their feet and leaving no dry eye in the room. The performance earned the duo 32 out of a possible 40. The pair made it to the finals and finished in third place.

Today, Galloway is a fitness guru and a highly sought-after motivational and public speaker. He travels the country to share his inspiring story, to encourage and motivate others. Truly, Galloway is a beautiful reminder that no matter what obstacles or challenges come in our way, they are meant to be overcome.

You can watch his heartwarming performance in the video below.
