Blake Shelton might be a jokester onstage and on TV, but when it comes to his marriage to Gwen Stefani, he is dead serious about making it last.

Insiders say Shelton has been leaning on fellow country star Keith Urban for advice after facing some rough spots with his wife. The two have grown close while filming their new reality competition series The Road, and their conversations have gone far beyond music and television. For Shelton, watching Keith’s nearly two-decade marriage to Nicole Kidman has been like seeing a playbook for how to weather the storms.

“Divorce is not an option,” one source explained. Blake reportedly admires the way Keith and Nicole have handled their struggles and kept their relationship intact. Urban has been open about his own past battles, including addiction, and how putting communication and love first helped him and Kidman get through it. That kind of honesty hit home for Shelton.

Shelton and Stefani have been together for a decade, and four of those years have been married. Their biggest challenge has always been the same, which is balancing their hectic schedules and long-distance commitments. Gwen often spends time in Los Angeles while Shelton prefers his Oklahoma ranch. That back-and-forth has created tension, but instead of running from the problem, Shelton has been looking for ways to close the gap.

Keith’s advice has been simple but powerful. He and Kidman carve out time for weekly check-ins, no matter how busy they are. They talk every day, even if they are on opposite sides of the world. Urban also goes out of his way to keep things romantic, from sending flowers to reminding Nicole that she comes first. For Shelton, it is a reminder that even after years together, the small gestures and constant effort matter most.

Sources say Blake has taken Keith’s counsel to heart, and it is already showing in his marriage. He and Gwen are reportedly doing much better, finding ways to stay connected even when work pulls them apart. They have even started planning a holiday with Keith and Nicole, which speaks to how close the two couples have become.

Fans might remember that Shelton and Stefani have never shied away from putting their love on display. For their fourth anniversary last year, Gwen posted a video montage of their sweetest moments together while Shelton dropped a heartfelt “I love you!!!!” in the comments. Those little snapshots show that the love is still alive, even if the behind-the-scenes work is ongoing.

What makes this story even more country at its core is the idea of leaning on a fellow artist not for business but for life advice. Shelton knows he is married to a global superstar, and that brings unique pressures. Yet he is not about to let those pressures break what they have. By looking at Keith and Nicole’s example, he sees that even Hollywood glitz and worldwide fame cannot undo a marriage built on trust and communication.

At the end of the day, Blake Shelton has always been stubborn in the best way. He sings it, he shows it, and now he is proving it. When he says divorce is not an option, he means it. With a little advice from Keith Urban and a whole lot of effort, Shelton and Stefani look ready to keep writing their love story, rough patches and all.
