Luke Combs officially won the night’s most coveted trophy: Entertainer of the Year. Combs came in with three nods, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year. Among the prominent artists he beat out on the nomination list were Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen.

Combs accepted his trophy with an emotional speech thanking country music and his wife and son. He also remarked that after years of being at the award show, ‘country sounded more country than it has in a long time tonight.’

This is the artist’s second consecutive win for the title, which has not been surprising. His most recent album Growin’ Up debuted atop the Top Country Albums chart when it was released last June and also won big in tonight’s awards, grabbing the Album of the Year. He also had a hot streak of chart-toppers like “Doin’ This” and “The Kind of Love We Make.”

Combs is set to perform for a massive world tour with a North American itinerary and stops in Australia, Norway, Belgium, Ireland, and more in the upcoming year.

The 2022 CMA Awards was aired live from Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 9) on ABC with Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning as hosts.
