Luke Combs brought home the Album of the Year award with his third full-length studio project, Growin’ Up. He accepted the trophy with his co-producers, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton.

Luke Combs expressed his surprise in his speech and thanked his co-producers who worked their tails off to create Growin’ Up. The album bested Maren Morris’s Humble Quest, Miranda Lambert’s Palomino, Lainey Wilson’s Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, and Old Dominion’s Time, Tequila & Therapy. He then proceeded to hand the trophy over to Matthews, who also gave his thanks to Luke, fellow industry members, SONY, and his mom.

Growin’ Up debuted at number one on the Top Country Albums chart when it was released back in June. It also sold more equivalent album units than any other album in the genre during its opening week, setting a new benchmark for country albums in 2022. The record consists of 12 tracks, including a Lambert duet, “Outrunning’ Your Memory,” and two chart-topping singles titled “Doin’ This” and “The Kind of Love We Make.”

The 2022 CMA Awards was aired live from Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 9) on ABC and was hosted by Luke Combs and Peyton Manning.
