Tim McGraw joins American Airlines and a group of names of cancer survivors, cancer fighters, and those who have lost the battle with the disease for a new campaign for Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C).

The American Airlines Campaign

The popular airline is devoting an entire aircraft to the cause. Anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) during the whole month of July can add the name of a person they stand up for to an American airline’s Airbus A321. The plane will be flying this fall, and it will carry all the names that will be submitted.

The campaign was launched at the beginning of July with an advertisement featuring Stand Up To Cancer ambassador Tim McGraw along with six American team members across the U.S. All of the people on the ad has been personally affected by cancer, and the campaign holds a special place in their hearts.

Tim McGraw’s Cause

McGraw continues to advocate for cancer research with this new campaign. In a statement, he explains his motivations for joining.

“Every family in America has a cancer story, my own family included. Too many of us have lost our parents, children, spouses and friends to this terrible disease. I’ve been so touched by the stories of the American Airlines team members I’ve met over the past month and I’m honored to lend my voice to this campaign to help create a world where all cancer patients can become long-term survivors and have more time with the people they love.”

In a behind-the-scenes video of the campaign, McGraw also gets candid about his family’s bouts with cancer. His mother, as well as several of his aunts, have all battled a form of cancer. his father, baseball pitcher Tug McGraw lost his in 2004.

“That’s a big reason why I’m here. It’s been a part of my family and I want to do everything I can to help find a cure and find a way for people to become long-term survivors.”
