Country music is headed back to Sin City, and it is about damn time.
After three years of setting up camp in Frisco, Texas, the Academy of Country Music Awards is packing its boots and glitter and heading west for its sixty-first annual celebration in 2026. The big news dropped like a boot-stompin’ beat, and fans everywhere are already buzzing about the return to one of the most iconic venues in ACM history. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will once again light up with the stars of country music for a night that promises pure entertainment, powerful performances, and some good old honky tonk magic.
The move feels like a full-circle moment for the ACMs. Before the show made its three-year run in Texas, Vegas was the home of the ACM Awards for sixteen years. From cowboy hats to cocktail dresses, the blend of Nashville soul and Las Vegas spectacle has always been a signature of the show’s charm. And now, it is coming home. Or at least, it is going back to where the neon shines just right, and the champagne flows like sweet tea on a front porch.
Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, said they could not be more thrilled to be heading back to MGM Grand, a place filled with special memories and ACM milestones. Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, added that partnering with MGM Resorts sets the stage for delivering world-class entertainment to fans and artists alike. If their goal was to crank the excitement dial to eleven, then consider it done.
The 2026 ACM Awards will once again stream live on Prime Video and on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. Fans across more than 240 countries and territories will be able to catch every jaw-dropping moment as it happens. This kind of reach and tech-forward thinking has helped the ACMs carve out a lane of their own in the award show circuit, especially since they became the first major music awards ceremony to exclusively livestream.
Now let us talk about expectations. Last year’s sixtieth anniversary show was one for the books. Reba McEntire hosted and brought the heat along with more than forty of country music’s finest. We saw a wild mix of newcomers and legends, including Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and Miranda Lambert, to name a few.
And let us not forget the performance that stopped us all in our tracks. Chris Stapleton’s cover of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” turned that stage into something sacred. His haunting soul, those bluesy chords, and the gravel in his voice made it unforgettable. That moment deserves a proper look back before the next chapter unfolds.
As for 2026, there are still questions waiting to be answered. Who will host? Who will perform? Will we see a return of Reba, or will there be a new face in the spotlight? And what kind of surprises does the ACM have up its rhinestone-studded sleeve?
One thing is for sure. When country music comes to Vegas, it never shows up quiet. The glitter, the grit, and the guitar strings will be front and center again, and May 17 cannot get here fast enough. So dust off your boots and pour something strong. The ACM Awards are going big, and the countdown to Las Vegas starts now.
