Megan Moroney Just Took the Crown as Billboard’s Top Female Country Artist of 2025

Megan Moroney performs on stage with her signature sparkling rhinestone guitar in a denim top, crowned Billboard's Top Female Country Artist of 2025, outranking Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lainey Wilson, and Ella Langley with authentic honky-tonk hits.

Megan Moroney just proved that a small-town girl from Georgia can rise up and rule the entire country scene.

In a music landscape where flashy pop stars are constantly dipping their toes into country waters, Megan Moroney did more than hold her own. She dominated. Billboard officially named her the Top Female Country Artist of 2025, beating out an incredibly stacked list of performers that included Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and even crossover giants like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.

That is right. Megan did not just earn the top spot. She did it while standing next to music industry titans who have billion-dollar followings. That alone tells you everything you need to know about the kind of year she has had.

Her meteoric rise did not happen overnight, though. Megan has been grinding her way up the ladder since dropping “Tennessee Orange,” and while a lot of folks initially mistook her for another TikTok flash in the pan, she proved quickly that she was here to make country music her home. And now she is officially sitting at the top of the porch, looking out over the front yard she built with blood, sweat, and heartbreak songs.

It is worth noting that in a list of top country women, seeing names like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé still raises eyebrows. Both artists have undeniable talent and have dabbled in the genre, but let us be real. Country fans have long memories and strong opinions. While Swift got her start in Nashville and still knows her way around a steel guitar, her home has been pop for more than a decade. Beyoncé, on the other hand, made a big country splash with Cowboy Carter, but calling her a country artist is still a stretch for many fans who have spent their lives with boots in the red clay and country radio in the truck.

Meanwhile, Megan has been cutting her teeth in honky-tonks and hitting every festival stage she could find. Her music feels like the South. It sounds like a Friday night wrapped in memories you are half trying to forget and half hoping to relive. It is honest, a little gritty, and full of heart, just like the genre deserves.

Topping the Billboard list means Megan delivered across the board this year through streaming, sales, radio airplay, and fan engagement. Let us not forget her sold-out headlining shows and her relentless touring schedule, which took her to cities and small towns alike. She did not just ride a trend. She built a movement.

Ella Langley, who came in second, had a hell of a year herself with back-to-back number one duets alongside Riley Green, but Megan’s solo firepower ultimately lit the brightest flame in 2025.

With the way she is rolling, don’t be surprised if Megan Moroney ends up not just leading the female charge but going toe-to-toe with the guys next. Her storytelling is sharp. Her melodies are addictive. And her attitude is pure outlaw charm.

Here is to Megan, a real-deal country queen with a crown she earned the old-school way. And while some outsiders might try to sneak into the barn party, Megan is already behind the mic and proving every night why this genre still belongs to the ones who live and breathe it.
