It is always a pleasure to watch great country singers come together and perform on stage. We truly appreciate their talent and how much they enjoy performing. Since we love legendary country artists perform all together, let’s watch one performance from the CMA awards show back in 2004.
Jimmy Buffett, George Strait, and More Live Performance
The CMA Awards show invites artists to perform their own rendition song of a song. In this video, we present to you a performance of Jimmy Buffett, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, and Toby Keith. They performed their cover of Hank Williams Sr.’s “Hey Good Lookin’.” And oh, Shania Twain looked gorgeous with her yellow gown in this video.
All singers have their own part in the song, and not even one outshines the other. What do you think about their performance? Did you enjoy it? Because we sure did.
“Hey Good Lookin'”
The song “Hey Good Lookin'” was originally recorded by Hank Williams Sr. for about twenty minutes. It was said that the song was written for his friend Jimmy Dickens, but Williams recorded the song first. He humorously stated that the song’s too good for Dickens to record.
Williams’ single hit the top of the country chart, marking his sixth number one on it.
Here’s the original version by Hank Williams.
Different Cover Versions
Buffett recorded Williams’ single for his album License to Kill in 2004. He worked with Black, Chesney, Keith, Jackson, and Strait for this single. Their rendition reached number eight on the Billboard country chart.
This is their studio version.
Other artists who covered the song were:
- Tennessee Ernie Ford, who recorded a duet in 1951.
- George Jones in 1960.
- Waylon Jennings in 1992.
- Jo Stafford and Frankie Lane, who made it entered the pop chart.
