This country singer has a moniker of the Rolls-Royce of Country Music and was also regarded as one of the best in the industry. And it’s none other than George Jones. He was royalty in the music industry, and even after his death in 2013, his music is still well-listened to. And that said, it’s no question why he is regarded as one of the most legendary artists ever to exist.

Throughout his career, he has been able to release many chart-hitting singles; to be more specific, there are around 160 in total. Some of George Jones’s hit songs are “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and “Lily of the Valley.”

But for today, we are just going to talk about the latter. “Lily of the Valley” was released in 1965 as part of his album Old Brush Arbors. The song talks about Jesus, as already suggested in the title. It is a Christian song that narrates the tale of a man who finds solace in knowing Jesus. The storyteller compared Jesus to a popular flower that was frequently referenced in the scriptures.

He resembled the lily of the valley blossoms in terms of fairness. The song’s narrator also gave us the assurance that having Jesus as our buddy would make it easier for us to face life’s challenges without fear. When you have Jesus, you don’t have anything to be concerned about. All we have to do is put our faith in Him, and He will care for all our needs.

But, besides the flowering metaphors used in the lyrics, what really made the song extra artistic is how George Jones‘s voice compliments the song’s lyrics and instrumentals. The emotions he could convey just by singing the words are mind-blowing. And as listeners, we can feel the feelings expressed in each lyric.

So, if you are in the mood to listen to a song that will remind you to acknowledge the sacrifices of Jesus, then “Lily of the Valley” by George Jones is the perfect song for you. You can listen to the music now below.
