Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner first laid eyes on each other back in 2018 during the 16th season of American Idol. They flipped pages together pretty quickly and Barrett is proud to admit that she jumped on Foehner first.

During an interview with PopCulture, Garrett said that she wanted to get to know Foehner first. When she saw him first, she was captivated by this cool-looking guy, with his hair that made him look like a cool rocker dude in her eyes.

She added that she wanted to make a music video with him and that’s why she initiated on him during their first hangout session. However, Garrett thought that her future husband didn’t like her at first.

Things turned up when the former Johnson’s Lost Crowes guitarist texted Garrett and she got the hint. “It was a mutual thing,” Garrett said in the same interview with PopCulture.

As the couple progressed with their relationship, they were also a step closer to being mainstays in the music industry. Both of them made it to the shortlist during their season. Barrett made it to the top 3 while Foehner got left the show while finishing the top 5.

Yet, they remain as winners in each other’s hearts as they developed their newfound romance.

After dating for almost a year, Foehner popped the life-changing question to Barrett in March of 2019. Their magical moment happened during their trip to Los Angeles. They flew in to join a relationship seminar, and that trip led them to the hotel where they first met during the singing competition.

When they decided to check out the room, Foehner didn’t waste a moment and got down on one knee.

In several interviews, the country-rock singer said that he has been planning the proposal the way it happened exactly.

Not long after, they tied the knot seven months later.

The two American Idol finalists got married in Garrison, Texas, on October 5, 2019. They exchanged vows in front of a hundred guests, composed of their friends, family, and closest acquaintances. Their honeymoon took place two months later on a Florida beach.

It’s worth mentioning that Foehner was 23 while Barrett was only 19 when they got married. While they’re both notably young to get wedded, Barrett explained to People that they owe their strong connection to their mutual family and faith value.

“We’re both excited to make such a serious and holy commitment before the Lord, with our family and friends there to help us celebrate,” she shared during a short interview with people before their wedding ceremony.

Just over a month after they officially entered married life, Barrett told The Boot that married life is the best. She highlighted that he’s her best friend, and it’s amazing how they get to enjoy living together.

As fast and as sure as to how their relationship unfolded, the couple is now pregnant just less than a year after getting married. They are expecting a baby daughter.
