She may be Clint Black’s daughter, but Lily Pearl Black is carving out a story that is all her own.
Born on May 8, 2001, in Los Angeles, Lily Pearl grew up in a world surrounded by music and television lights. Her parents, Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black, were already household names when she came into the world. Yet instead of being pushed into the spotlight from the start, Clint and Lisa took a step back from their own careers to make sure their daughter had as normal a childhood as possible. When Lily was still a baby, the family left California behind and put down roots in Nashville, the place where Clint had built his career and where Lily would later build her own.
It did not take long for Lily’s creative streak to show itself. Lisa recalls her daughter putting on little shows at home, pretending to be everyone from a British concierge to a rock star. By high school, those characters were no longer just living-room performances, because Lily joined a rock band and began playing real shows. She fell in love with the stage in a way that only made sense for a girl raised in the thick of country music.
Her first taste of the spotlight alongside her parents came in 2012 when she appeared in Flicka: Country Pride, playing Nina Meyers. Clint and Lisa were also in the movie, and for Lily, it was a small but important step into entertainment. Six years later, she released her very first recording: a Christmas duet with her dad called “Magical Christmas.” It was the perfect introduction, a warm holiday song that carried the unmistakable chemistry of a father and daughter making music together.
But her biggest milestone came in October 2020 when she walked onto the stage at the Grand Ole Opry. While her dad stood beside her, Lily chose to sing Carrie Underwood’s “Temporary Home.” That choice showed her voice was not only powerful but also rooted in the modern sounds of country she grew up admiring. Fans who were there that night got a first glimpse of an artist who was not just riding her father’s coattails.
From 2021 through 2023, Lily joined her parents on the Mostly Hits & The Mrs. Tour. It was a family affair that doubled as an education in performing. Night after night, she shared stages across the country, watching and learning from Clint while also stepping up to sing her own songs. She later gathered that energy into her debut EP, Songs From the Mostly Hits & the Mrs. Tour, which dropped in November 2022 and featured three tracks. One of those songs was co-written with Clint and legendary producer David Foster.
At the same time, Lily was not putting her education on hold. She enrolled at Belmont University in Nashville, where she studied business and music. It was the kind of practical step that showed she was not just interested in singing, because she also wanted to understand the business that runs behind the microphone.
Now 24, Lily is still based in Nashville, living in the same apartment her father once rented decades ago when he wrote “Like the Rain.” She did not even realize the connection until later, but the fact that she is creating music in the same space her dad once did feels like something out of a country song itself.
Today, Lily is splitting her time between recording new material, performing, and touring. She is active on social media, giving fans behind-the-scenes looks at rehearsals, road life, and family moments. And while she is still shaping her voice and style, it is clear she has both the talent and the determination to carry her family’s musical torch into the next generation.
It is easy to see Clint Black when you look at her. She carries the same stage presence and the same steady work ethic. But when Lily opens her mouth to sing, it is unmistakably her own. She does not simply echo her parents’ legacy. Instead, she builds on it and aims for something that feels fresh and personal.
Country music has always thrived on family ties, from the Carters to the Judds, but Lily Pearl Black is showing that while her roots matter, she has her own wings. She has grown up in front of our eyes, and now she is stepping into the spotlight not as Clint Black’s daughter, but as Lily Pearl. She is the artist, the songwriter, and the performer who has found her own way.
