As we all were expecting, “Buy Dirt” by Jordan Davis featuring Luke Bryan went back-to-back at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and Country Airplay. It also has spent 24 consecutive weeks on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 chart.

It is indeed the fastest-moving single among Jordan Davis songs to date, and it even landed on different charts – including in Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Not only that, but this country hit was officially certified Platinum by the RIAA earlier this year.

Well, as soon as it was released from Davis’s second EP of the same name in 2021, the tender ballad captured the hearts of fans everywhere. It was clear that it’s bound to be a hit! After all, the song is a true backdrop to all of our lives.

The Heartwarming Story Behind The Song

Co-written by Jordan Davis with his brother, Jacob Davis, and frequent collaborators, brothers Josh Jenkins and Matt Jenkins, “Buy Dirt” is said to be the most special song the countrywide chart-topper has ever released.

It was in 2020 when the four men went on a writers’ retreat in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In the general run of things, they would join forces together to come up with song ideas – but this meeting was different! They arrived at the cabin they rented with a different goal in mind. The four of them just wanted to wake up peacefully, take their daily dose of caffeine, enjoy talking, and see what would happen.

But on the first day, Josh led the group in a spiritual conversation where they had deep discussions on how one can withstand the storms of life. “That was really where ‘Buy Dirt’ started,” Davis said, and the rest is history.
