It takes a lot to keep Chris Stapleton off a stage. But when your doctor says stop singing, you listen.

The country powerhouse revealed on Thursday (Oct. 9) that he is battling bronchitis and has been ordered to rest his voice, which forced him to postpone his Hollywood, Florida shows until 2026.

“To all my friends in Hollywood, Florida, I am very sorry to let you all know I am battling bronchitis and am unable to perform this weekend’s shows as my doctors have put me on vocal rest,” Stapleton shared on Instagram.

He added, “We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to seeing you next year.”

The shows, which were originally set for Oct. 10 and 11 at Hard Rock Live, have now been moved to January 10 and 11, 2026. All tickets will be honored for the new dates, and fans who cannot attend can request refunds before November 10.

If there is one thing Stapleton’s fans understand, it is that his voice is not just good, it is sacred. The comments section of his post quickly turned into a digital get-well card.

“Heartbroken but hope you have a quick recovery,” one fan wrote. Another added, “We’ll be praying for your recovery! Can’t wait for January!”

The support was not just kind, it was fierce. Country fans know the toll touring takes, especially for a voice like Stapleton’s, which carries both grit and grace.

“Rest up, big man. We’ll wait,” a follower said. And they meant it.

Chris Stapleton‘s 2025 All-American Road Show tour has not been short on challenges. It kicked off in June with several dates alongside George Strait and rolled through summer with packed stadiums and sweaty singalongs.

However, the road tested him early because his June 4 date in Greenville, South Carolina, had to be postponed when key production gear was damaged beyond repair in transit. He made up that show on July 9 because that is what professionals do.

Now, after months of performing across the country, it looks like his body is calling for a timeout. Bronchitis is not something you sing through when your entire career depends on every smoky note.

Fans will not have to wait too long to see him back. Stapleton’s next scheduled performance is on November 1 at Boots on the Bayou in Gonzales, Louisiana, which gives him plenty of time to heal before hitting that first note again.

There is also no shortage of reason to cheer him on while he rests. Stapleton is up for three major awards at the 2025 CMA Awards, including Male Vocalist, Music Video, and the top honor, Entertainer of the Year.

Not that he needs trophies to prove anything. His voice has already carved his name into the same wood as Cash and Haggard.

Country music runs on grit, gratitude, and a little bit of God’s grace. Chris Stapleton has all three in spades.

If a few canceled shows mean hearing that honey-and-gravel voice for decades more, then it is a trade every fan would take.

When Chris Stapleton finally steps back to that mic, bronchitis or not, it will not just be a comeback.

It will be a reminder of why his voice remains the gold standard for country soul.
