Singer-actress Selena Gomez is set to portray highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Linda Ronstadt in a soon-to-be-released biopic.

The “Love You Like A Love Song” singer first teased the film by dropping a photo of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, Simple Dreams, on her Instagram Story. Simple Dreams is also the title of Ronstadt’s mega-popular 1977 album, which proudly boasts a triple-platinum certification.

Later, Ronstadt’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts confirmed the news. “It all started with a simple dream,” the iconic singer wrote in a post where she also shared Variety’s article unveiling the casting news.

She also shared the Rolling Stone article and spiced things up with three heart emojis that seemed to beat with excitement.

Meanwhile, the website of Great Eastern Music revealed that Selena Gomez and Linda Ronstadt have recently spent time together at Ronstadt’s home, talking about the project and “getting to know each other.” Both these incredible and talented women are of Mexican descent.

A Title For The Upcoming Biopic Was Not Yet Revealed

The upcoming project is keeping us thrilled about its director and additional cast members. Plus, there’s no word on a distributor hopping on board just yet. However, it is slated to be produced by Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, along with James Keach.

In 2022, James Keach took the director’s seat for the documentary short, Linda and the Mockingbirds. Prior to that, he wore the producer hat for the 2019 documentary delving into the singer’s life, titled Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice – which won Best Music Film at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

So, let’s wait for the missing puzzle pieces to complete the picture! Stay tuned for more updates.
