Rip Wheeler from the hit series Yellowstone is a character that’s become extremely popular these days. People have been captivated by his edgy personality and undying loyalty to John Dutton and his family. All of that love for the character is thanks to the amazing performance of Cole Hauser, the man playing Rip.

With more people interested in Cole, it’s not surprising to find fans trying to look for more information about the actor. So, we’ve decided to list some interesting and less-known facts about him.

Who is Cole Hauser

Cole Kenneth Hauser was born to Wings Hauser and Cass Warner on March 22, 1975, in Santa Barbara, California. The 48-year-old actor is married to Cynthia Daniel, and they have three children. His current net worth is estimated to be around $8 Million as of 2023.

Hauser has a long-standing career and starred in movies such as Good Will Hunting, Dazed and Confused, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Tears of the Sun. Besides Yellowstone, Cole has been on TV Shows such as The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Rouge, and Chase.

Lesser-Known Facts About Cole You Should Know!

Instead of the boring and widely-known facts, we’ve collected some lesser-known ones about Cole Hauser:

Cole Chose His Role in Yellowstone

Cole Hauser is one of the first actors to read the Yellowstone pilot script. All thanks to his friendship with John Linson, the film producer for the series.

At that point, Hauser had the privilege to pick between the roles of Rip and John Dutton’s sons. He decided to go for Rip because he instantly connected to the character.

According to Hauser, even if Rip only appeared in two scenes during the pilot episode, something about the character pulled at his heart. He says he could sense the amazing potential for Rip’s growth. As a result of his amazing performance, Sheridan decided to write Rip into more scenes, so much so that he ended up becoming one of the core casts of the series.

Hauser Was Born in a Family of Entertainment Industry Heavyweights

Hauser’s family has a long history in the entertainment industry. His great-grandfather, for example, is one of the founding members of the Warner Brothers Studios, Harry Warner. He is also the descendant of the Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dwight Hauser and famous film producer Milton Sperling.

Hauser’s parents are both professionals in the entertainment business too. Cass Warner, his mother, is the Warner Sisters production company’s founder.

Meanwhile, his father, Wings Hauser, has plenty of film and television credits under his belt. Some examples are Bones, The Young and the Restless, and Criminal Minds.

Cole Hauser reconnected with his father when he was fifteen, who taught him everything about auditioning. After a year with his father, Hauser dropped out of school to pursue a career in the acting industry.

One of Hauser’s Ancestors Was One of Montana’s Early Governors

It’s no secret that Cole Hauser considers Montana one of his homes. What’s surprising is that one of his ancestors, Samuel Thomas Hauser, was one of the state’s early governors. He held the office for two years, 1885 to 1887. That is probably why Hauser strongly connects with Montana and enjoys staying there while filming Yellowstone.

Cole Hauser is Lifelong Friends with Matthew McConaughey

A lot of people wonder if Cole Hauser and Matthew McConaughey are friends. They are great friends and have been that way long before Hauser became everyone’s favorite edgy cowboy on the Yellowstone series.

The two became friends after working together in the film “Dazed and Confused” in 1993. During that time, Hauser was still living in Los Angeles, a teen trying to pursue his acting career.

Remember when McConaughey got arrested in Austin, Texas, in 1999 for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest? Well, it’s believed that Hauser was there in McConaughey’s home when it happened.

Besides McConaughey, Hauser is also best friends with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The three first met when they were in the 1992 film School Ties. They clicked right away and have become friends ever since.

Cole Hauser is an amazing actor, and even if it took a while for him to gain the recognition he deserves, we are happy that he finally did. Regardless if you are an old or new fan, you can catch Cole Hauser in Yellowstone, which recently aired its highly anticipated fifth season.
