Loretta Lynn And Sister Crystal Gayle Swoon Audience With A Medley Of Their Songs

The Webb family, a poor coal-mining family in Kentucky, may not have the wealths of the earth, but they were surely gifted with something that money can never buy: TALENT. In fact, out of the eight children of the family, two of them claimed seats as successful and highly-respected singers in the country music genre. And they are Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle – who you’ve probably heard so many times in this lifetime and deservingly so. That is, the sisters have charted countless hit songs and have both been a recipient of awards and honors multiple times. 

Loretta Lynn, who was born in 1932, was the first to embark on the career of being a musician. She was definitely a natural, and with her talent, she created a trailblazing pathway that paved the way for other female singers in the genre. One of those was her very own much younger sister Crystal Gayle. And Crystal definitely showed that the Webb family is indeed talented as she rose to the top of the music charts when she released her first album.

The two also collaborated numerous times, but probably the most memorable for fans was their duet with Boston Pops Orchestra.

The performance started with Loretta and Crystal meeting each other at the center stage while they sang the former’s signature hit song, “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” At the end of the song, the sisters shared a hug while the crowd cheered and applauded. After that, they performed a short portion of Loretta’s Top 10 country hit “We’ve Come a Long Way Baby” before hitting another iconic song of the singer’s, which was “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man). And this song, as introduced by Crystal, was one of her favorites in her sister’s discography.

Then it was Loretta’s turn to pick a song from Crystal’s hit songs to perform, and she chose her favorite, which was “Wrong Road Again.” It was the charting lead single off of her sister’s debut, self-titled album. 

But it was the sisters’ duet of Crystal’s number one hit song “Cry” that made the highlight of the performance. Aside from their strong and swooning harmony, it also definitely put Crystal’s vocals under the limelight. It just emanated pure beauty. And not to mention her chilling high note at the end of the song. 

The performance concluded with their spunky rendition of the iconic and classic country and bluegrass Osborne Brothers’ song “Rocky Top.”
