In the late 1980s, Crystal Gayle teamed up with country artist Gary Morris on a series of duets – with “Makin’ Up for Lost Time” as their first single ever.
The song was actually from the American prime-time television soap opera Dallas, which first aired in 1978. It was later released as the first single off the album What If We Fall in Love? It immediately went straight to the hearts of many country fans as it ranked No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for an entire week. This makes it the most successful hit for the duo.
The Joy Of Finding The Right One
Written by singer-songwriter Dave Loggins, “Makin’ Up for Lost Time” tells the story of a man and a woman who found their way into each other’s arms. While they felt like they spent a lifetime waiting for one another, they can’t help but be grateful now that they’re together. They trade sweet words and promises, telling each other how they look forward to spending the rest of their lives, making up for the times they had to spend apart.
