Trace Adkins has been a fixture in country music since he made his debut in 1996, helping keep the country’s traditionalist flame burning. Trace Adkins songs about the simple truth of life and love in working-class America – and even those that get the party started – features a mix of classic honky tonk with elements of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and even gospel.

But no matter what genre or theme is, Trace Adkins‘ rich deep voice has always been powerfully expressive, never failing to captivate listeners’ hearts.

With more than two decades-long-career, the country superstar has come up with seven studio albums and two ‘Greatest Hits’ compilations. And as expected, you will regularly find his songs occupying a spot on the Billboard country music charts. Here are some of our favorites.

1. “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing”

From: Dreamin’ Out Loud (1997)

Our first glimpse of Adkins came when he released his debut album, Dreamin’ Out Loud – which includes his very first chart-topping track, “This Ain’t No Thinkin’ Thing.” The country ballad – which sings about the complexity of love – was a massive sensation, hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

2. “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk”

From: Songs About Me (2005)

If you ask someone to name their favorite song of Adkins, you will likely get his 2005 single “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk.” In fact, it’s pretty impossible not to hear country fans – young and old – singing to this country song every time it comes on the radio.

3. “You’re Gonna Miss This”

From: American Man: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 (2007)

This country classic resonates with listeners from every generation as it relates to whatever you are going through in life. “You’re Gonna Miss This” follows a daughter’s journey – from being in school to marrying the love of her life to having children of her own.

4. “Ladies Love Country Boys”

From: Dangerous Man (2006)

Several country legends received a shout-out in this hit song “Ladies Love Country Boys” from 2006 – this includes southern rock favorites like Charlie Daniels, Hank Williams Jr. and Skynyrd.

The song finds Adkins singing about a city girl who fell in love with a country boy.

5. “Jesus and Jones”

From: Something’s Going On (2016)

Adkins looked back on his life and the decisions he has made in “Jesus and Jones” – where he revealed his ongoing mental war between the two sides of himself: his wild side and the better side, whose heart is set on Jesus.

6. “Just Fishin'”

From: Proud To Be Here (2011)

“Just Fishin'” is definitely one of Trace Adkins’ greatest hits of all time, the sweet song that tells the tale of a father’s loving relationship with his daughter, became a successful chart-topper, and even earned a Grammy nomination!

7. “Arlington”

From: Songs About Me (2005)

As many know, Adkins has always been a proud supporter of the U.S. military – and this meaningful song is among the several tunes he has performed in honor of the men and women who served this great country.

Adkins sings “Arlington” from the perspective of a soldier who dies in battle and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

8. “Then They Do”

From: Greatest Hits Collection, Vol. 1 (2003)

The heartwarming ballad was released as the first and only single off Adkins first compilation album. It is told from a father’s point of view, who watches his kids as they grow up.

9. “I Left Something Turned On at Home”

From: Dreamin’ Out Loud (1997)

The smoking-hot love song is based on a double entendre. The man in the song told his friends that he must leave as he “left something turned on at home.” Apparently, it wasn’t a piece of equipment.

10. “Songs About Me”

From: Songs About Me (2005)

Adkins reflects on the difficulties and challenges the country music listeners face because of discrimination – and it turned out to be the anthem for the genre’s fans nationwide.

11. “Marry for Money”

From: X (2008)

Adkins’ take on a male gold digger in “Marry for Money” definitely showcased the country singer’s sense of humor.

12. “Every Light in the House Is On”

From: Dreamin’ Out Loud (1996)

The catchy ballad finds Adkins brokenhearted after his recent split from his wife. He turned every light on in the house and kept them just like that in the event she decides to return home.

It comes with the same heart-wrenching music video that shows the country star endlessly trying to keep himself busy as he lives alone in his home. But a beautiful twist came at the very end of the video. The woman ran back into his arms, and the bright lights scattered into the night.

13. “Chrome”

From: Chrome (2001)

The country rap – which is all about a woman who loves cars – was one of the biggest country songs of 2002, landing on the Top 10 on the Billboard country chart.

14. “I’m Tryin'”

From: Chrome (2001)

The mid-tempo ballad finds Adkins facing troubles in his life following his divorce. He expressed his struggles, like working double shifts just to make enough money to pay alimony to his then-wife.

15. “Swing”

From: Dangerous Man (2006)

Co-written by country star Chris Stapleton with songwriter Frank Rogers, “Swing” put a man’s failed attempt to pick up women into comparison with the concept of striking out in baseball.
