Born on December 8, 1984 in Cedartown, Georgia, Hunt was an excellent athlete who specialized in football. In 2003, he attended the Middle Tennessee State University, then transferred to the University of Alabama (UAB) at Birmingham two years later and graduated in 2007. He didn’t plan to make a living out of music, but it was as if it was meant to be. In 2012, he made his first songwriting breakthrough with Kenney Chesney’s “Come Over.” Two years later, he again earned two big songwriting credits and a contract with MCA Nashville. His debut single “Leave the Night On,” co-written with Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally, quickly became a country radio favorite and got certified as platinum twice.
That same year, he released his full-length debut album titled “Montevallo” with hit singles “Take Your Time,” “House Party,” and “Break Up In A Small Town.” In an interview in 2014, Hunt revealed that the record-breaking album was inspired by a girl whom we now know as Hannah Lee Fowler, who he met back in 2008. And the title Montevallo was actually named after Fowler’s hometown.
According to Hunt, he didn’t actually live in Montevallo, and he had never visited there before. But before he left to go to Nashville, he met Fowler, and the pair dated but had to eventually break things off. And a lot of things he experienced and the relationship he had with her really inspired a lot of the songs on the album.

Hannah Lee Fowler was born on October 27, 1988 in Montevallo, Alabama to parents Scott and Linda Fowler. She came from a big family and the oldest of seven children – Joshua, Rebekah, Sarah, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Daniel. Her father is a pastor in her hometown’s church, the Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian church.
She is a registered nurse who loves to do missionary work. In 2009, she provided medical care to Hondurans during the coup. She also worked in Syrian refugee camps and delivered babies in northern Iraq during the 2014 elections. And she also helped with a feeding program in Israel and also worked alongside Holocaust survivors.

Second Chapter: Winning His Muse Back
After their split, Hunt could not get Fowler out of his mind. So he decided that he would win her back, and he did so persistently. In a 2017 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed that he continuously flew to Hawaii to talk to her about coming back. He went there seven times in three months, and fortunately on the seventh trip, he finally convinced her.
And in true Sam Hunt style, he also wrote an apology song for Fowler with “Drinkin’ Too Much,” which he released last January 6, 2017. The timeline of their reconciliation and everything surrounding their relationship was kind of hazy as the couple was very tight-lipped about it.
But it was reported that the country music singer secretly proposed to his muse in the fall of 2016 during their trip to Israel. He knew that she would say yes, but he wanted her to say yes without any reservation, and that was something he wasn’t sure about. But when he finally popped the question, she was all in.
