Another Covel has entered the world, and this time it’s Toby Keith’s son passing on the family legacy.

On August 15, 2025, Stelen Keith Covel and his wife, Haley, announced the arrival of their first child, a daughter named Millie Brooks Covel. The proud new parents shared the news with a simple but heartfelt message on Instagram: “Millie is here. We love you so much, little girl,” alongside a sweet snapshot of their swaddled newborn. It was a quiet post, but one that carried the weight of family history and fresh beginnings.

The Covels first let the world in on their baby news back in February, posting ultrasound photos with the caption “Baby Covel coming this summer.” That announcement came just days after the passing of country legend Toby Keith, who lost his battle with stomach cancer in February 2024. For Stelen and Haley, the joy of new life was closely tied to the grief of losing a father and father-in-law who meant so much to them.

By May, the family was in full celebration mode, with Stelen’s sisters, Shelley and Krystal, throwing Haley a baby shower that leaned hard into cowboy-country charm. Pink cookies shaped like boots and hats made it clear the family was preparing for a little girl, though they waited until Millie’s arrival to officially share her name.

Millie is not only Stelen and Haley’s first child, but she’s also the fourth grandchild of Toby Keith. And while the late icon never got to hold her in his arms, his presence looms large over this moment. In a touching tribute shared earlier this year, Stelen wrote of his father, “Your impact is forever stamped on the world and on millions of people, yet not one person knew you the way I did. You were my biggest champion and the guiding light in my darkest times. It’s not goodbye forever, it’s just goodbye for now.”

Haley echoed that sentiment in her own tribute to Toby, recalling how he walked her down the aisle and embraced her as family from day one. “It’s a complete honor to be his daughter-in-law,” she wrote. “He took me in as his own, and I’ll be forever grateful.”

For those who might not know, Toby Keith’s legal last name was Covel. His full name was Toby Keith Covel, and his only son, Stelen, proudly carries it. Stelen was born in 1997, the youngest of Toby’s three kids with his wife, Tricia Lucus. He grew up alongside his sisters, Shelley and Krystal, both of whom have spoken often about how present their father was despite a career that took him all over the world. Krystal, who pursued a music career of her own, has said she never remembered her dad as “gone,” because when he was home, he was all in.

That legacy of parenthood seems to be the torch Stelen is now carrying forward. Toby Keith will forever be remembered as the “Beer for My Horses” hitmaker, a patriotic powerhouse, and one of the most defining voices in country music. But for Stelen, he was simply Dad. Now, with Millie Brooks in his arms, Stelen steps into that same role, ready to raise his daughter with the same strength and devotion his father showed him.

It’s a full-circle moment. One generation says goodbye, and another begins. For the Covel family, the pain of losing Toby is still fresh, but Millie’s arrival brings healing, joy, and a reminder that the family name, both Keith and Covel, is still going strong.

Congratulations to Stelen and Haley on welcoming their baby girl. Something tells us Toby Keith is smiling down, proud as ever, as his legacy of love, music, and family continues to grow.
