A true renaissance, quintessential woman, Reba McEntire has dominated the music industry with her inherent God-given talent. Whether she’s making us laugh on TV, gracing the Broadway stage or designing her own clothing line, Reba does everything with authentic wit and style. Hence, she lucratively sashayed a singing career into a global entertainment empire. 

Chart-topping, award-winning country music artist, Reba has acted in films and starred on her own sitcom.  Additionally, she runs several businesses, including her own line of clothing and accessories.

Born March 28, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Reba McEntire got her break singing the national anthem at the 1974 rodeo finals. McEntire has recorded with Mercury and MCA records and topped the country charts numerous times. Most noteworthy, she has been named best female vocalist by the Country Music Association multiple times. As stated earlier, Reba has also acted in films and starred on her own sitcom.

Here are TEN facts that you might not know (or already know) about the “Queen of Country Music.”

1. Reba is named after her grandmother.

Her grandmother’s name was Reba Estelle Brassfield.

2. Reba learned how to drive when she was only five years old.

She used to drive her father’s truck while he kicked hay off the truck’s bed to feed the cattle.

3. She was a serious basketball player as a young girl.

Well, as a young girl, she was really sporty. She would jump after the ball before any boy could.

4. She was part of a singing group in college.

The group’s name was The Chorvettes.

5. She is the only female country star to have a No. 1 hit in four consecutive decades.

Since 1980 she has had at least one #1 hit in each decade. Thus, earning her nickname, “Queen of Country Music.”

6. She was supposed to be in Titanic.

Reba was chosen by Titanic director James Cameron to play the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown in the 1997 film, but she had to decline because of her tour schedule. The role went to Kathy Bates instead.

7. In 2000, she was named the No. 1 Best-selling Female Country Singer of All Time.

She deserves it. Very well!

8. She is KFC‘s first Female Colonel Sanders.

Reba is definitely an amazing actress. Well, she can do almost anything, including the role of the opposite sex. Great job, KFC, for a perfect choice!

9. She always wanted to be a teacher.

Her mother was a school teacher and Reba has always wanted to be like her.

10. She turned down Faith Hill.

Hill auditioned to be Reba’s backup singer but Reba didn’t think she fit the role.
