Stella Parton is expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support following the passing of her sister Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean.

Shortly after Dolly confirmed Dean’s death on Monday, March 3, Stella took to social media to acknowledge the prayers and condolences from fans.

“On behalf of my sister Dolly, our family and Carl’s family we appreciate your prayers at this time,” she wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Her message comes as the Parton family mourns the loss of Dean, who was 82 years old.

Dolly Parton’s Heartfelt Tribute to Her Husband

Dolly, 78, shared her statement earlier in the day, reflecting on their six decades of love.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years,” the country music icon wrote. “Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”

The statement also confirmed that Dean would be laid to rest in a private ceremony and that the family is requesting privacy during this difficult time.

A Love Story That Lasted Nearly 60 Years

Carl Dean was a private man who rarely appeared in public with his wife, Dolly, despite her legendary status in the music industry. They first met outside a laundromat in Nashville in 1964 when she was just 18 years old. They married two years later in a small, intimate ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia.

Throughout the years, Dolly often spoke fondly of their marriage, playfully crediting their lasting love to the fact that they spent plenty of time apart due to her touring schedule.

“I always joke and laugh when people ask me what’s the key to my long marriage and lasting love,” she told PEOPLE in 2018. “I always say ‘Stay gone!’ and there’s a lot of truth to that.”

Despite keeping a low profile, Dean was known for his unwavering support of Dolly’s career. He preferred life away from the spotlight, but their bond remained strong through the decades.

Stella Parton’s Message Reflects the Family’s Gratitude

As the country music community mourns alongside the Parton family, Stella’s message serves as a reminder of the love and prayers being sent their way. Her words acknowledge the overwhelming support from fans who have admired Dolly and Carl’s long-lasting relationship.

Though Carl Dean was rarely seen, his love for Dolly was constant. Now, as the Parton family grieves, they are leaning on each other and the kindness of those who are keeping them in their thoughts.
