In 2019, rising country singer Matt Williams released his song “Rain Down Sunshine” as part of his album Taking Chances.

Unlike other country singers, Matt Williams is not the typical one who grew up in the countryside and moved to Nashville to pursue his dreams of becoming a singer. Instead, Matt is known as an army veteran who served eight years in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During his time on the field, he got into an unfortunate incident where he lost two of his best friends. After getting wounded by an IED, Matt decided to continue his streak with his music career.

However, moving forward in life wasn’t an easy feat for the ex-army veteran. When he got home, PTSD and depression loomed in ways he never expected. With the death of his father, things just intensified for Matt.

But instead of dwelling on it with a heavy heart, Matt decided to create music that would give hope and positivity to everyone. As we dive right into the meaning behind the song, we’ll find out how Matt Williams used his experiences to inspire others to stay positive.

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Steve Pasch, Brian White, B. Wallace, and A. Krizan, the song is simply about raising a glass to the good times, even if sometimes life can be a little tough.

Although things might not go the way we expected and hoped for, being thankful and living life with positivity is always the way to go—just like Matt did during his lowest times. Despite going through all that trauma, he maintained a positive outlook on life, inspiring his listeners to do the same.

So, if you are looking for the perfect song to remind you to always see the good in things, listen to Matt Williams’ amazing performance of “Rain Down Sunshine” below.
