The Academy of Country Music announced that Jason Aldean will receive the prestigious ACM artist of the decade at the upcoming 54th ACM awards on the 7th of April.
Academy CEO Pete Fisher said in a statement regarding the award:
“On behalf of our Special Awards Committee, our Board of Directors and academy staff, we extend our congratulations to Jason and his entire team on this landmark career achievement. We look forward to celebrating Jason’s remarkable career at our 54th annual awards in Las Vegas.”
Aldean responded to the honor in by saying:
This is probably one of the coolest awards I’ve ever been given. My heroes are on this list, something I can’t really even wrap my head around being part of. But man I’m proud to be getting it — it’s for everyone who stuck with us and supported us through the years.”
Jason Aldean wins ACM Artist of the Decade Award
Aldean is arguably one of the most decorated country artists this decade. He has already snagged three and is the current reigning Entertainer of the Year. In fact, he’s up for two more awards come the 7th of April – including his fourth Entertainer of the Year crown.
Aldean is also only the second country act, following Rascal Flatts, to score four consecutive chart-toppers on the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart. He’s charted a whopping 16 number ones on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and has sold more than 18 million albums.
He is the sixth artist to receive the honor. He joined a prestigious group entirely made up of Country Music Hall of Fame Members. Previous winners include Marty Robbins (1969), Loretta Lynn (1979), Alabama (1988), Garth Brooks (1998), and George Strait (2008).
Hosted by Reba McEntire, this year’s ACM Awards will be broadcasted on CBS from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers leads all artists with ten nominations, followed by Chris Stapleton and Dan +Shay’s Shay Mooney with six. The show airs live at 8 PM ET.
