The annual Glastonbury Festival is ready to welcome its 210,000-strong party at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, England, this coming June 26-30, 2024. The five-day fest is one of the UK’s highly anticipated music events, and each area of the farm has its own characteristics and lineup, loyal fans, and special attractions.

Among the must-visit areas (aside from the stages) is BBC Music Introducing, where under-the-radar artists are given a platform to introduce themselves to a wider audience. They’ve jumpstarted the careers of Florence and The Machine, Sam Fender, and Lewis Capaldi, to name a few. If you’re more into DIY artists, ravers, and activists, then you’re in for a hell of a fun time at the Babylon Uprising. The Bandstand’s bringing in hip acts, while San Remo is featuring a space out of time for the dreamers and visionaries.

While everyone will have their own favorite festival spot, all will undoubtedly converge at the highlight: the Pyramid Stage.

This year’s stacked bill is led by pop star Dua Lipa, rock band Coldplay, singer-songwriter SZA, and country-pop singer Shania Twain. And they’re going to be joined by an incredible set of performers, including Seventeen! The thirteen-member boy group is the first K-pop act to ever grace Glastonbury’s main stage and is definitely going to be a refreshing sight at the festival. Aside from Seventeen,  groundbreaking Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning songwriter and performing artist Cyndi Lauper will also be making her Glasto debut.

And on the festival’s second stage, known as the Other Stage, fans will get to witness Avril Lavigne and Camila Cabello for the first time at the festival – which will definitely be a treat. And they’re just a few in the long list of artists who will be performing.

But the Glastonbury experience wouldn’t be complete without a side of fun and activities. There’s the Kidz field, where kids can do face painting, learn to play instruments, and listen to stories. You can also enjoy a glitzy, star-studded film fest at the Pilton Palais Cinema with personal appearances, intros, and the much-awaited Q&As. If you’re into art and history, you can visit Carhenge (Pillars of the Underground) and Glastonbury Free Press, but if you’re into traveling, you can check out Atchin Tan/Stopping Place and Glastonbury-On-Sea.

Of course, there are also a myriad of bars across the site for everyone to enjoy, with a wide range of offerings like craft IPA, real ale, rose, fruit cider, premium spirits, hard seltzers, an Italian aperitif, or a coffee-based cocktail. But if you’d like to enjoy a premium experience, you can have a legendary restaurant meal and Sunday lunch with great music in the background at the Deluxe Diner/Rocket Lounge.

Festival Essentials & Insider Tips

Glastonbury tickets were sold out even before the lineup announcement hit the site. This is not surprising, as the festival has become a place for youth to be introduced to music and culture in all its different forms. And it’s accessible to everyone, and they have partnered with Attitude is Everything since 2005 to extend live music to the deaf and disabled people.

If you’ve managed to snag a ticket, here are some things you should know.

First, bring only the things you really need and ensure that you can take them home. The campsite is a fair distance away, and it’s going to be quicker to get through security if you’ve got less baggage. Use luggage tags for your bags and belongings for easy identification. While camping equipment is available at the venue, there is a limited supply. Make a checklist of your essentials, and don’t skimp on them. Reusable water bottles are allowed inside and are free to fill up from taps on site. It can be very loud, and a pair of earplugs may save your ears.

There are affordable eats inside the venue, and 300 stallholders will also be offering a £6 meal deal to sample a range of their menu without breaking the bank. Oh, and make sure to pick up a pack of Worthy Farm Reserve Cheddar to get a taste of one of the best mature cheddar. It’s an experience!

Glastonbury takes place four out of every five years. The fifth year is a rest year for the Worthy Farm to recover from the wear and tear of hosting a big summer party. They restarted in 2019 after taking a break in 2018 and then paused again in 2020 and 2021 (during the pandemic) before continuing in the next two years. So, fans will probably enjoy it for two or three more years after this edition before it takes a break again.
