In 1982, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson released their first-ever collaboration song, “Everything’s Beautiful (In Its Own Way),” as part of Dolly Parton’s studio album, My Favorite Songwriter, Porter Wagoner.

The song was considered one of Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson’s greatest hits, with it landing at the no. 7 spot on the US Country Singles Charts. Their unexpected collaboration shocked everyone in the 1980s.

In addition, it crossed over to the pop chart, landing at the no. 102 spot and no. 9 on the Adult Contemporary chart. With Dolly Parton’s flair, the song immediately became a hit among many.

So, if you are wondering what the meaning behind this hit song by Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson is, scroll down. We have the answer for you.

Meaning Behind the Song

The song was written by Parton herself in 1967. However, since her record label at that time didn’t approve of its release, she kept it under wraps before it was released in 1982.

Upon its release, the song immediately captured listeners’ hearts because of its meaning. As the title suggests, the song talks about how beautiful everything is. From those green fields of clover to those fountains flowing from the mountains. It is a song that would teach us to appreciate the beauty of life in many ways possible – that it is just a matter of perspective.

Since it became such a hit among listeners, when Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson performed it together on a TV Show, fans couldn’t help but get excited hearing both singers’ angelic voices harmonizing together. The two performed the song alongside eight children painting on stage, showcasing the beautiful meaning behind the song.

So if you are feeling a bit down than usual, check out Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson’s amazing duet of “Everything’s Beautiful (In Its Own Way)” below, as it may help you cheer up.
