Dan + Shay announced officially on their socials that it has been 8 years since the first time they met each other which, by the way, is more than 10,000 hours in total. December 7, 2020, Dan + Shay with a loud crying emoji celebrated 54,000 hours longer than 10,000 hours grammy nominated song that they had.

As unique as their songs, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney originally met at a house party in a Smyer’s home. “Where It All Began” is an album that was composed of demos. Since then, they knew they had a brilliant thing going.

Dan + Shay became known for their debut single “19 You + Me,” which was released in October 2013, just months after they met. Thanks to the pandemic, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney were able to take a long pause and take a look back at all they have been through the past 8 years.

This year has been a great year for the best country duo there is today. From bagging awards after awards, their work has also been acknowledged in several all-genre categories. Their biggest hit can arguably be the collaboration they did.

“10,000 Hours”

The song that captivated all, “10,000 Hours” led the way for the country duo Dan + Shay. Its largest success commercial might have come with this year’s 2020 Americana Awards which was the only country song nominated for the all-genre category Collaboration of the Year award and faced the music industry’s biggest names today.

Take Me Home for Christmas

Featuring their families and their wives Dan + Shay’s first Christmas original was surely special. The Christmas tune was written by Dan and was joined by some familiar collaborators that include Andy Albert, Jordan Reynolds, Jordan Schmidt, and Mitchell Tenpenny. Dan said that recording the Christmas tune was a blast. After all, we all need a taste of positivity after everything we had gone through this year.

Now as we welcome 2021, we could expect more to come from one of the best duo country music has ever seen. What has been your favorite work from Dan + Shay? From the heartbreaking single “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” or to their next single, one thing is sure, we are all in for another great ride of country tunes from the best duo country music has to offer.

Let us know if you think Dan + Shay is not just the best country duo but arguably the best duos in all music genres today?
