She’s got Texas in her blood and a whole damn country in her corner.

Miranda Lambert just got named the 2025 Texas State Musician, and if you think anyone else deserves it more, go ahead and take several seats.

The Texas Commission on the Arts and the Texas Legislature handed down the honor, which is basically the Lone Star State’s way of saying, “You’ve made us proud, now let’s make it official.” Nominations come from the public, but the poets, musicians, and other artistic heavy-hitters make the final call. And they got this one right.

Covered initially by Saving Country Music, the recognition isn’t just about the number of CMA or ACM awards Miranda has collected, although she has plenty. It’s about how she’s repping Texas harder than ever. Twenty-five years in the game, she’s still blazing new trails, this time helping make Texas a legitimate alternative to Nashville.

In case you missed it, Miranda teamed up with producer Jon Randall last year to launch Big Loud Texas, a homegrown imprint focused on lifting up Texas talent. They’ve already signed home-state artists like Dylan Gossett and Jake Worthington. Just last week, they opened the Big Loud Texas House in Austin, a historic spot turned creative space that’s being offered to local artists for writing sessions, meetings, and showcases. She didn’t just build a brand, she built a damn launchpad.

That’s the kind of boots-on-the-ground impact that earns titles like Texas State Musician. Miranda’s not just singing about backroads and barstools, she’s building the back end of an industry that gives artists a shot without having to kiss the ring on Music Row.

And let’s not forget the music. Her latest album, Postcards From Texas, is a full-circle love letter to her roots, and it couldn’t have dropped at a better time. She’s still sharp as a tack, still spinning tales that sting and soothe in equal measure, and still giving the middle finger to anyone who tries to box her in.

Miranda has never needed industry approval to do her thing. She carved her place by being loud, proud, and unapologetically Texas. This award just makes it official. And with names like Norah Jones already lined up for 2026, Texas isn’t just handing out participation trophies. They’re honoring a legacy in the making.

So yeah, Miranda Lambert being named the 2025 Texas State Musician just makes sense. Because when it comes to country music with a spine and a soul, she’s still out here setting the damn bar.

And anyone who’s got a problem with that? Try that in a Lone Star town.
