The song is part of  his album The Silver Tounged Devil and I, which also included hits like “Good Christian Soldier,” “The Taker,” and “Lovin’ Her Was Easier (Than Anything I’ll Ever Do Again).” The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

“The Pilgrim, Chapter 33” by Kris Kristofferson has been considered an art, a masterpiece of its kind, because of the creative yet mysterious sense that it gives out.

Although listeners do not know what the song means,  many have different theories about it.

Others believed the song was about songwriters like country singer-songwriter Johnny Cash, whom Kristofferson was close to.
