Kentucky natives Chris Stapleton, Dwight Yoakam, and Tyler Childers are teaming up to come to the aid of Eastern Kentucky communities affected by the deadly flooding that happened in July.

Dubbed as Kentucky Rising, the benefit concert will be held at Rupp Arena in Lexington on Tuesday, October 11. All of the concert’s earnings will go to the Kentucky Rising Fund, which strategically supports flood relief efforts and long-term recovery projects. This includes support for the families and responders during the historic rainfall that caused flash flooding – washing away roads and homes.

Response To The Devastating Flooding

According to reports, the catastrophic flooding left at least 37 people dead and hundreds of Kentucky residents homeless.

Following the devastating event, Chris Stapleton – who was born in Lexington – was then spotted on the ground, helping with the cleanup efforts. He strapped on his boots and worked in Knott County. Several Kentucky residents also shared a photo of the “Tennessee Whiskey” singer shopping at Walmart and delivering them around the area.

Last spring, Stapleton hosted A Concert for Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He was joined by Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Yola. All of the concert’s net proceeds went toward Stapleton’s Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund.

Several more members of the country music community also stepped up to help Kentucky residents recover. This includes Tyler Childers, who reportedly assisted with flood relief efforts in Letcher County. Meanwhile, country music band Alabama donated $25,000 to The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky.

Anyway, tickets for Kentucky Rising will be available this Friday, September 16. You can check out KentuckyRising.com for more details about the one-night event.
