Miranda Lambert’s “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” is her latest collaboration with fellow country star Elle King. And as expected, the party song was such a success it debuted atop the Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales Chart.

Written by King and Martin Johnson, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” is an anthemic tale of love, drinking, and finding oneself in challenging situations. It was recorded both in New York City and Nashville way before the global pandemic forced us to stay at home.

According to Elle King, the song’s story pretty much sums up her wild friendship with Miranda Lambert, whom she looked up for a long time – not only as a songwriter, singer, entertainer but overall, as a person. To which Lambert echoed, saying that though they’ve just recently been friends, she had felt they’d known each other for long, and she felt like that immediately when she first met King.

The two talented singers also dropped the accompanying music video, which is just as entertaining as the song and “the most fun music video I’ve ever done,” said King.

King and Lambert were rocking big hairs paired with their vintage outfits in the ’80s-inspired wedding video, wherein King played as the bride while Lambert was her maid of honor. It also features a special appearance from King’s real-life fiancé, Dan Tooker, who played as the groom.

While this may be the first song King and Lambert will release from just the two of them, the two former tour mates are no strangers to working together. King has actually appeared on Lambert’s all-female version of Elvin Bishop’s 1975 hit “Fooled Around And Fell In Love,” along with country artists Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, and Caylee Hammack. It won the 2020 ACM Award for Vocal Event of the Year.
