Artists are not immune to sudden feelings of nervousness whenever they go on stage. In receiving their awards, some would even completely forget his well-prepared speech.

Delivering one of the most remarkable speeches of the night, Maren Morris shared what it feels like to give an award-winning speech in front of a socially distant venue with no live audiences.

A Night for Maren Morris to Shine

Morris is one of the biggest winners of this year’s CMAs. Bagging home three trophies that included the ‘Song of the Year’ and the ‘Single of the Year’ for her hit song “Bones,” Morris was also recognized as the ‘Female Artist of the Year.’

With three chances to deliver her thoughts on one of the biggest stages in country music, Morris honestly admitted that it was pretty nerve-wracking. Morris had a lot of people whom she wanted to recognized and thank for the success she attained in the past year. Morris added that artists like Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban, who paved the way for younger artists like herself, were just among the few names she wanted to honor. Of course, she never forgot to thank her team who journeyed with her all year round.

A Shared Victory by All Women

In Maren Morris’ last speech, and upon receiving her final award for the ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ award, Morris highlighted the women who introduced her to music as well as the contemporary artists who have often been overlooked.

Morris stood on the stage and proudly mentioned some of the most influential female artists whose music helped her find the singer that she is today. From the likes of Linda Martell to Mickey Guyton and Rissi Palmer to Yola, Marren Morris tried to not miss anyone and asked the fans to go check out also their music.

“There are so many amazing Black women who pioneered and continue to pioneer this genre… You’ve made this genre so, so beautiful. I hope you know that we see you.”

For Morris, winning the Female Vocalist Award was a celebration for all the wonderful women who, through the years, have been least recognized or even worse, never been.

With her career climbing steadily, Maren Morris has added yet another milestone; becoming a mother to Hayes, her firstborn with fellow country artist Ryan Hurd. The birth of Hayes became the inspiration for her new single “Better Than We Found It” which, she says, was the best single to illustrate all that she felt once she reached the stage of motherhood.
