In 2019, George Strait released his thirtieth studio album Honky Tonk Time Machine – which features thirteen songs, including twelve originals written by Strait himself along with legendary songwriter Dean Dillon, Lori McKenna, and none other than his son, Bubba Strait. Lastly, there’s also Strait’s rendition of Johnny Paycheck’s “Old Violin.”

To celebrate the album’s announcement, George Strait released the song “God and Country Music,” – which he wrote with Lori McKenna, Luke Laird, and Barry Dean. It also featured a very special guest, his grandson Harvey. The song ranked No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart while peaking at No. 17 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Here Are Other Songs You Will Find on Honky Tonk Time Machine Album

Looking more closely into George Strait’s Honky Tonk Time Machine album, you’ll find songs you never knew you needed to exist.

Some of our favorites in the track list are “God and Country Music,” which also features Harvey Strait, “The Weight of the Badge,” “Honky Tonk Time Machine,” “Two More Wishes,” “Código,” and a duet with Willie Nelson, “Sing One with Willie.”

It was indeed a treat to the fans as the album was released three and a half years since Strait had worked his subtle magic on a collection of songs. It’s no surprise the album was met with largely positive reviews and skyrocketed to the top of Billboard’s Top Country Albums while peaking at No. 4 on Billboard 200.

Well, we all know George Strait no longer needs to prove himself to the music community – after all, he’s already deemed the King of Country Music – Honky Tonk Time Machine adds more truth to that title than ever.
