Travis Tritt had never had pneumonia before, so for two weeks he carried it and had no idea what it was.

“Turns out that the pneumonia was actually present for the past 2 weeks, but I didn’t know it, because I’ve never had it before. I just knew I felt a bit weak and sluggish,” he wrote in a post to fans in late September.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the 63-year-old Georgia native posted a video on Instagram that opened with two words, “I’m back!” After several weeks off the road, he has three shows in three nights, from Oct. 15 to Oct. 17.

They are at the Grand Theater in Durant, Oklahoma, on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Tulsa on Friday, Oct. 16, and at the Boots for Troops event on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Travis Tritt Called His Recovery “A Rough Go” and Thanked Fans for Their Prayers

In the video, he told fans that most of them already knew he had been struggling to recoup from pneumonia for the last few weeks. He did not pretend it had been easy.

“It’s been a rough go, but I’m finally back good enough to where I feel like normal again,” he said.

The real reason for the video came next. More than anything else, he said, he wanted to thank everyone who sent get well wishes and prayers while he was “kind of down and out.”

“It’s appreciated more than you’ll ever know. And I’m looking forward to being back out there again. I feel great. Looking forward to seeing you out on the road.”

His caption said the same thing in fewer words. He wrote that he was “back in the saddle again,” that the well wishes and prayers meant so much to him, and that he could not wait to play some good country music for folks.

Hearing him say “I feel great” at 63 carries a little extra weight. When he turned 50, he joked to The Boot that he would have to check his birth certificate. “I don’t feel 50,” he said.

Pneumonia Pulled Travis Tritt Off the Road He Has Worked Since 1987

Tritt has been on the road since 1987, and his record shows it, with 14 studio albums, seven of them platinum, five Billboard No. 1 singles, two Grammys and a membership in the Grand Ole Opry.

He first opened up about the diagnosis on Sept. 24, and in that post he moved two shows he was set to play with his daughter, Tyler Reese Tritt, in Macon and Charleston. Macon went to April 22, 2027, and Charleston to Nov. 14, 2026.

Fans know her voice from “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough,” the Father’s Day duet she sang with him at 15 as the first single off his Post Oak Recordings album.

More dates followed. His team pulled him from the Country Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, while he kept recovering, and a show in Erie, Pennsylvania, was canceled. His Richmond, Virginia, show moved from Oct. 3 to Nov. 12, and his team said tickets for the original date will be honored.

The road that pneumonia took from Travis Tritt for weeks is his again, three nights in a row, from Durant to Tulsa to Boots for Troops.
