Trace Cyrus Blasts Billy Ray for Skipping Grandma’s Funeral to Chase Fame and It’s About as Ugly as It Gets

Billy Ray Cyrus stands on the red carpet in a black leather jacket and sunglasses, unintentionally becoming the center of family drama after Trace Cyrus called him out online.

When your son calls you “the l𝐚mest man to ever walk planet earth,” it’s safe to say things have gone past the point of no return.

Trace Cyrus is not holding back. In a blistering Instagram post dropped on June 10, the 36-year-old musician lit into his dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, accusing him of skipping a family funeral to chase clout overseas. And he didn’t just throw shade. He lit the whole damn tree on fire.

“This man is so hungry for fame it’s pathetic,” Trace wrote, referencing the time Billy Ray allegedly ditched his own mother-in-law’s funeral to attend a fashion show in Italy. According to Trace, the whole family bent over backward to get the country star to LA—even securing a $60,000 private jet at his request. But despite the red carpet treatment, Billy Ray bailed.

“He really flew to Italy for a fashion show but wouldn’t come to LA for Mammie’s funeral while he was still married to my mom,” Trace wrote. “Even after his daughter got him a 60k private jet like he demanded then he still didn’t come.”

That “daughter” is presumably Miley Cyrus, who seems to have patched things up with her dad, unlike Trace. Trace, though? He’s not in a forgiving mood.

“You’re the l𝐚mest man to ever walk planet earth,” he added. “Honestly embarrassed to ever have considered you my idol.” He topped it all off with a clown emoji and the message, “Christ is King. Get right with God. You need it.”

This isn’t some heat-of-the-moment outburst. Trace turned off comments on the post and doubled down with another, comparing Billy Ray to Nicolas Cage’s son. The man came with receipts, rage, and a full-blown family reckoning in his back pocket.

Of course, some fans weren’t buying it. In a follow-up post, people called Trace’s behavior “disturbing” and “a cry for help.” But Trace wasn’t having it.

“I’m past the point of even caring if I ever speak to him again,” he replied. “I’ve surpassed him in every metric as a man on this planet. There’s nothing left to learn from him except from his mistakes.”

And just in case you thought this was temporary bitterness, Trace made it crystal clear he’s building his own legacy now. In his eyes, it has nothing to do with his father.

“As the oldest son of the family, the Cyrus last name will continue through me and my many children I plan to have,” he wrote. “I will raise them the right way and be a part of their life no matter what the circumstances are.”

This latest public meltdown is just another chapter in the ever-growing Cyrus family fallout, which seems to have truly unraveled after Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022. Since then, it’s been a mess of estrangements, shady interviews, and more deleted social media posts than you can count.

Billy Ray hasn’t responded. If history’s any indication, he probably won’t. The man who once rode into the spotlight with “Achy Breaky Heart” seems content to stay silent while his family fights in the comment section.

But Trace? He’s not backing down. He’s made it clear he’s done trying, done hoping, and damn sure done pretending.

Call it ugly. Call it sad. Call it whatever you want. One thing’s for sure—this family feud is far from over.
