Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are no doubt one of the biggest Hollywood couples out there today, but there’s more about the power couple’s successful careers — they are also wonderful parents to two daughters: Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
Let’s get to know more about these gorgeous girls.
Meet Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret
When Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman tied the knot in 2006, they were blessed with an adorable little girl two years after. The happy couple welcomed their first daughter into the world on July 7, 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee. According to the actress’ father, Dr. Antony Kidman, Sunday was named after the famous Australian art patron Sunday Reed, who happened to be the key character in the domain of arts at the beginning of the 20th century. The family also fondly calls their first-born “Sunny.”
In 2010, the couple welcomed their second daughter through surrogacy. “We went through a surrogacy with my second daughter because we wanted another child so much it hurt,” the actress once revealed.
Nicole Wants Them To Follow In Her Famous Footsteps
Even though Keith Urban’s kids are still growing up, sources have revealed that Nicole Kidman already wants them to follow in her acting footsteps. In fact, the actress is giving the girls some lessons at home to perfect their acting chops.
“Faith and Sunday have really caught the acting bug, and as well as appearing in Big Little Lies, they’re now going to be on her series The Undoing,” a source exclusively told Closer Weekly in 2019. “They’re serious about following in Nicole’s footsteps, and she’ll do everything she can to get them to where they want to be. Nicole has been talking about enrolling them in acting classes, but for now, she’s realized that she can teach them herself!”
The source continued, “She’s giving them lessons at home, and they love every second of it. The fact that Faith and Sunday are so interested in this makes Nicole feel closer to them, and even though they’re still young, she’s happy to help launch them into the spotlight.” Now that’s pretty exciting!
Faith Has Started Following In The Footsteps Of Her Actress Mother
Faith Margaret has started following in the footsteps of her mother. In addition to her cameo role in Big Little Lies, she also had her first voice-over role in Angry Birds 2.
You can spot Faith in episodes 2 and 3 of “Big Little Lies” as a classmate of Celeste Wright’s (Nicole Kidman) twin boys, Josh and Max Wright (Cameron Crovetti and Nicholas Crovetti).
But Sunday Thinks She’d Be a Director Someday
During the 2019 annual Elle Women in Hollywood Celebration, Keith Urban’s wife segued into a proud story about the 11-year-old, Sunday Rose.
“The other day I was in the car driving her back from school, and I asked the question, ‘What do you want to be someday when you grow up?'” Kidman recalled.
After pondering becoming an astronaut, Sunday revealed her “real” career would be in the movie industry. But not as an actress. “I want to be a director,” she confidently told her mother. “And I’m pretty sure I can make that happen.”
“And I went, wow,” Kidman said. “That right there, that is progress. For that little girl to be able to say, ‘Yeah, I can be a director’ – I would never have said that. I said I could be an actress, but I never said a director.” We’re hoping to see some future blockbuster hits that are directed by Sunday Rose Kidman Urban!
The Couple Are Raising Sunday And Faith To Be Well-Rounded Individuals
The country superstar shared recently how fortunate the girls are to have an extraordinary mom in Nicole Kidman.
“I don’t know anything about raising kids, and Nic does, and that comes in extremely, um, it’s really made for an experience I wouldn’t have had without that. Her patience, her recognizing them as people and not just little kids is really extraordinary,” Urban said. “Her attention to honoring their feelings and listening to them right from day one – really being attentive to that is not how I was raised at all, so it’s really beautiful to see.”
The Couple Are Quite Strict Too When It Comes to Gadget Use
At home, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have banned having a television in the girls’ bedroom, and there’s also ‘no computers in bed’ rule. “We’re pretty strict with the boundaries on what we allow in terms of work into our home. I used to have an office in my house, and I just got rid of it – it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I finally went, ‘This is not a good thing,'” Kidman explained.
Just Like Their Parents, They Love Swimming In The Ocean So Much
“Oh yes, we are all fish people,” Kidman revealed to Five Things with Lynn Hirschberg podcast, the one thing they all have in common, their love for swimming in the ocean.
They love it so much that they would drive to the beach every day whenever they are near enough. “In the mornings, when we wake up, if we can drive 45 minutes so we can swim in the ocean, we will. Even if it’s for two minutes,” the actress said.
The Girls Definitely Enjoy Their Tight-Knit Family
Despite the couple’s busy schedule, splitting their time between their homes in Nashville and London, the couple makes sure to spend time with their daughters. They are setting a good example for their girls, stressing that family time is the most important part of their overall happiness.
“In our private life, they’re always involved with us. I don’t like the whole kids’-club thing,” Kidman said. “We’re a very tight-knit family—we get anxious if we’re separated for more than two days. We try to have sit-down dinners every night we’re here. Friends from school come over. Sometimes we’ll have nine kids for dinner.” The actress laughed. “I can live out my fantasy of having lots of children.” When the country singer goes on the road, Nicole Kidman and the girls often tag along.
