Somebody forgot to yell “fore,” and it cost Kane Brown 23 stitches and a night with Travis Kelce.
Brown was hit in the head by a golf ball on Tuesday afternoon, June 23, sustaining a concussion and a nasty gash near his right ear that required 23 stitches. The injury forced him to miss the Tight End University concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville that evening, an event he was supposed to perform at alongside Dan + Shay, Chase Rice, Lainey Wilson, and Nate Smith.
The best part? In a since-deleted Instagram story, Brown revealed it was his own buddy who hit him from the fairway right beside him. “About a 150 to 180 mph ball, a 3-wood slice,” he explained. That’s not a stray ball from three fairways over. That’s your friend, standing 30 feet away, sending a 3-wood directly into your ear.
Brown said he had just enough time to turn his head so the ball caught his ear instead of his face. A few inches in either direction, and this would have been a very different story.

Kane Brown Handled It the Way You’d Expect
Kane Brown posted a series of Instagram Stories showing the damage. The first photo showed a bloody ear with the caption, “Shot in the head by a golf ball.” The second showed the stitches with, “Just a scratch.” A selfie followed with, “They said it will prob get worse next 48 hours but I’m alive and that’s all that matters. Holy crap.”
Classic Kane. Twenty-three stitches and a concussion, and the man’s posting selfies.
At the Tight Ends and Friends concert, Bussin’ with the Boys hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan broke the news to the crowd. “Kane Brown got hit with a golf ball today on the golf course, 23 stitches,” Compton said. “He says concussion, the football guys probably don’t buy it.”
Compton then asked for a moment of silence for “Craig Kane Brown.” His name isn’t Craig, which was the joke, and the crowd loved it.
To make things worse for Kane, he missed one of the biggest surprise moments of the night. Lainey Wilson closed the show and brought out Taylor Swift for a surprise duet of “Love Story.” Last year at the same event, it was Kane himself who brought Swift on stage for “Shake It Off.” This year, he was at home with an ice pack and 23 stitches while Taylor and Lainey brought the house down without him.
That one’s gotta sting more than the golf ball.
Brown’s next show is scheduled for June 25 at Hoofbeat Country Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin. He said he was originally going to fly, but will travel by bus instead. He’s 32 years old, his latest album, The High Road, came out last year, and he just opened his own Nashville bar, Kane Brown’s on Broadway, last month.

A concussion, 23 stitches, a missed Taylor Swift moment, and a buddy who probably owes him dinner for the rest of his life. At least the bar’s still standing. Someone get that man a drink. On his friend’s tab.
