Country music fans got torn between two acts when this year’s America’s Got Talent went down on its finale. There was Nashville’s new heartthrob Drake Milligan, who’s been branded as the New Elvis of Country – along with country trio Chapel Hart, who was such a hit in their audition that the judges gave them the coveted golden buzzer.

The two fan-favorites competed during the two-hour finale show on NBC – and to make things even more exciting, both acts performed original songs. Drake Milligan sang the song called “Sounds Like Something I’d Do.” His performance definitely had the whole audience on their feet and wowed the judges. Sofia Vergara even noted that she “already want to buy a ticket to your concert.”

Meanwhile, the three-member country music act performed their original song “American Pride” – to which Simon Cowell gave a standing ovation, noting the beautiful lyrics.

“I love hearing people like you singing about how much you love your country,” Cowell said. However, Howie Mandel pointed out that some of the trio’s vocals were off, adding that their previous songs were “ten times stronger.”

The country trio Chapel Hart took to social media to apologize to disappointed fans. “Tonight may not have been the BEST vocal performance, but we never been more PROUD of ourselves in our lives,” they said.

The Winner Has Been Announced

On Wednesday (September 15), America’s Got Talent finally announced the show’s winner. The Mayyas, a Lebanese all-female group of two dozen dancers, took home the one-million-dollar prize as well as the opportunity to headline a show in Las Vegas.
