Gabby Barett’s “I Hope” Now a Mega Hit

As the year nears its conclusion, Gabby Barrett had her ultimate hit “I Hope” break history! The mega-hit song introduced the young and upcoming country artists Gabby Barrett. Now, it is the longest number 1 song on the Billboard Hot Country Charts as she has now reigned 20 straight weeks. This was also the first time that a female artist was able to do such an accomplishment.

After her stint as an American Idol contestant, Barrett was not a big fish for most record labels. As a result, she worked hard and improved on her songwriting skills and crafted a sound that did not just reflect her personality but also relatable to many.

Barrett’s hard work was evident in her breakup tune “I Hope.” She collaborated with her friends to write a breakup song on Halloween last year. Barrett searched deep into her experiences for the song. She focused on what her past relationships taught her and even recalling all the stories she heard from friends and family members. For Barrett, the feeling of having the opportunity to write untold stories of people who have been through a breakup and not having the opportunity to say what they truly want to say to the person was the best.

After making history, Barrett shared how overwhelming the feeling was. After everything that happened in the world this year, having a break out year for her career was surreal for Barrett. The up and coming country star thanked her team, fans, and family for helping her with such an accomplishment. She also thanked Country Radio for making everything possible.

“Goldmine” and “I Hope” all came from her debut album that was released earlier this year that both break history. Barrett’s remix of the Charley Putt song “I Hope” also gave her tons of hardware.

Barrett’s breakout year gave her recognition as the Top New Country Artists. Barrett’s breakout year also gave her ACM and CMA nominations.
Barrett did also make sound waves. Her nearly Gold Certified debut album is officially the only album to date to accumulate the most streams in the first week for any debut album in history. She was also the only woman to claim both the number 1 spot on the Country Hot Songs Chart and a Hot 100 Top 10 with a debut solo single.
