Looks like the family of iconic country artist Alan Jackson and his wife Denise is about to expand as they will be welcoming a new son-in-law soon!

Mattie Jackson Selecman, the oldest among Jackson’s three daughters, took to Instagram to announce that she’s engaged to her boyfriend, Connor Smith.

Smith decided to take their relationship to another level during his 30th birthday celebration in Palm Beach, Florida. “Didn’t know we’d end up celebrating choosing the rest of our lives together!” Mattie wrote on her Instagram page, along with a series of photos documenting their beach week, sweet proposal, and lovely ring.

The soon-to-be bride has also expressed how “overwhelmingly thankful, excited and thrilled” she is, especially that it’s something she has fervently prayed for. Of course, Mattie put into words how she cannot wait to be Smith’s wife and build a family together. “You are the biggest blessing in the dang cutest package,” she concluded.

A Happy News That Came After A Season Of Tragedy

Mattie Jackson Selecman was previously married to Ben Selecman, an Assistant District Attorney for Davidson County in Tennessee. Sadly, Selecman’s life was cut short in 2018 after he slipped and fell, hitting his head on the dock, while helping a woman onto the boat during a family gathering to celebrate the Labor Day holiday.

Selecman suffered traumatic head injuries and died shortly after. He was 28 and married to Mattie for eleven months. The tragic incident led Mattie on grief’s never-ending roller coaster ride – which she details in her book Lemons on Friday.

But the world has better plans for Mattie. Three and a half years later, she found love again through her best friend’s brother-in-law, Connor – who she describes as an answer to prayer.

We’re wishing Mattie and Connor a happy engagement and be blessed with lifelong happiness.
